Cask at the brewery. 4.4%. Clear chocolate brown. Beige foam is creamy and lasting. Light chocolate and light roast. Some leafy old world hoppage. Good depth of flavour with a definite sweetness. Drinks well. Lightly bites on the finish. Solid kit.

Cask at the brewery. Clear dark copper colour. Tight white foam. Not as dark as expected. Not that it matters. Nice vinous and nutty (bit of walnut) notes. Sinks predictably easy. Decent depth of flavour. Nice mild.

Bottle picked up at the brewery. Hazed orange gold. Pretty impressive soppy white swede stays the course nicely. As new as Boerenerf is, they do seem to already have a uniqueness about them. Lovely sweet raisin here. Light musty oak. Touch of lemony twang. Soft sweet vanilla. Taste is semi sweet with plenty of tartness and a hit of fusty fruit bitterness. Drinks well easy overall. There’s no acidity. Juicy tart grape forward and highly drinkable.

Can via the online shop. Looks well. Misted ruby copper kind of colour. Lovely thick almost fully lacing, leggy beige foam. Nose has fruity toffee and caramel. A bit plummy. Some raisin. Taste is pretty sweet in a ripe fruit way, with some esters and a soft citrus bitterness. Smooth and lightly boozy with soft carbonation. Sweet and light bitter finish. Nice one. Sank it.

Bottle. Kernel advent box. Misted beetroot red. No head. Cherry pit and flesh. Light yeasty notes. Taste has a flicker of sweetness but is mostly semi dry and lightly tart. Drinks well with just a touch of acidity. Dry-ish and quenching finish.

Bottle. The Xmas Eve beer in the frankly disappointing Kernel Advent box of 2025. This kind of went some way to making amends. Nearly black. Pretty impressive sticky, leggy, lacing, lasting tan swede. Nose has bitter chocolate. Phenols. Wood. Some slight vegetal notes. Booze. Raisins. Taste is sticky sweet with a rising woody fruity boozy bitterness. Slick but easy drinking. Bitterness on the finish lasts an age. Solid. That vegetal thing is a bit weird though.

Can. Buxton online. Slick pour sits black. Slim ring of tan. Quite leggy. Nose has coconut cream. Milk chocolate. Some cardamom. Light vinous notes. Taste is tooth decay sweet. Yeah, not too much else really, apart from intense sweetness. But it’s a fucking pancake buttermilk stout. So there is that. Slick and daft and I was fancying something horrible and nasty sweet so it fit the bill. Bollocks but also not bad.
