From a wood cask at Thornbridge. Clear dark brown. Slim beige foam. Wow this is tangy. Woody yeasty notes. Red berry fruit. Dark bitter coffee malts. Taste is tangy fruity bitter. Decent depth of flavour. Tangy and bitter finish. Took some getting used to but enjoyed it very much by the end.

Cask at Thornbridge. Misted orange. Tight white fully lacing white foam. Herbal bitter orange hop and light bready malt. Full bitterness. Good depth of flavour and full on the palate. Bitter finish. Yep, it’s a bitter.

Bottle. Buxton online. Bit of a grey tinged pale gold. Suds of foam. Not a great start. The whole thing has a glass of Chardonnay that’s been forgotten about until the next morning and got necked regardless vibe about it. Bit grim overall.

Can. Mitchell’s Wines. Clear cola brown. Decent fairly soppy beige foam. Not a deal happening aroma wise. A bit nutty. A bit earthy. Some light roast malt. Taste is decent with some well balanced sweet malt and earthy lightly fruity bitterness. Drinks well. Light sweet light dry bitter finish.

Bottle. Mitchell’s Wines. I need to get on these because they always have a shit load in. Anyhoo. Clear cola brown. Leggy beige swede. Other than the legs it doesn’t look all that for a 10% imperial stout. Looks thin, if that can be a thing. Nose has ash and tar. Turkish coffee vibe. Some vinous notes. Some super bitter high cocoa content baking chocolate. Taste is full on bitter with some ashy dryness and a flicker of sweetness. Drinks easy with the ABV feeling around 7 rather than 10. Bitter ashy fruity finish. Decent but nothing especially to write home about.

Bottle via the online shop. Misted pale copper colour. Very decent swede is lasting and nicely dense. Nose has Mills bugs. Damp wood. Some stone fruit. Some ripe citrus. Taste is a little dry and a little tart. Faint acidity (enough for the missus to bail out). Some sweetness poking through. Juicy and foamy on the palate. Juicy lightly tart finish. If I didn’t know there was a coffee addition I might not have picked up on it, and that’s fine by me, but there is an extra layer here that elevates a classic easy drinking Mills. Also it’s an easy 10 for appearance.

Bottle via the online shop. Misted pale gold. Swede is remarkable. Slim and super dense semi lacing and bright white. The barrel character here is top tier. Bright mineraly Burgundy wine. Smelly ripe apples. The two go together well. Taste is juicy ripe and light bitter. Very clean and sinkable. Big juicy semi tangy fruity dry finish. I’m rambling. Top tier gear.

Bottle. Cheers Trevor. Soft haze on a deep cherry red. Slim dense palest pink head. Nose has some dessert apple to start and that’s where the cider bit ends. Semi sweet dark cherry. Light funk. Touch of oak. Taste is light sweet and light dry. No acidity here. Drinks like pop overall and is very juicy and fruity. There isn’t a load of complexity here, despite the 5 year old lambic that’s part of the mix, but it’s a hugely enjoyable fruity cherry forward beverage. Good gear.
