Bottle. Xmas gift from the missus. Clear dark cola brown. Solid tan swede. Looks good. Nose has Turkish Delight chocolate bar. Also Turkish Delight proper. Decent roast malt character. Taste is sweet, unsurprisingly, but there’s a nice malt hop bitterness too. Silky on the palate. Sweet but lightly bitter finish. Good gear that reminds me of North Riding’s pastry affairs but, in the missus’s words, “there’s no cardboard here”.

Bottle. I’m guessing from the online shop. Clear deep ruby red. Slim dense lasting pale pink head. Looks well. Nose has sweet and sour cherry juice. Some very dark chocolate. Toasted oak. Some mineral. Some salinity. Taste is semi sweet with plenty of cherry juice tartness . Pretty dry. Minimal acidity. Drinks easy. Juicy cherry light funk on the finish. Good gear.

Bottle. Xmas gift from the missus. 5.6%. Nearly black. Swirly dense slim beige foam. Looks good. Nose has creamy chocolate. Bit of a dark chocolate mousse thing. Nice vinous character. Inevitably there’s a rum and raisin ice cream thing too. Taste is fairly sweet as expected but there’s enough hop bitterness to keep it from being lairy and lactic. Smooth and nicely drinkable overall. Slight bitterness on the finish. Nice one.

Can. Xmas gift from the missus. Clear dark cola brown. Thin beige foam. Nose has the cinnamon first off then the ginger then roast coffee bean malts. Taste is semi sweet and semi dry. Touch of spice. Minimal bitterness. Drinks easy and medium bodied. Dry light spicy finish. Nicely done festive job.

Bottle. Xmas gift from the missus. Nearly black. Good tan head is glossy dense and lasting. Nose has char. Liquorice. Bit of Turkish coffee. Taste has some sweetness up front but is mostly dry and ashy bitter. Plenty of depth and flavour. Drinks well overall. Dry light bitter finish. Impressive for the 4%.

Bottle. High Peak Wine and Beer. Muddy amber with a few suds of head that don’t last. Ends up looking like bin juice. Vinegar notes all through this with some aspects of what might have been. Some toffee. Some oak. But yeah it’s mostly crap. Taste pretty much follows suit and it’s flat, too. Down the sink you pop.

750ml bottle. A Xmas gift from Hydes, ages ago. Clear cola brown. Zero head. Nose has wine barrel. Some hedgerow berry. Oud Bruin sweet yeast. Bit of a jam on well done granary toast thing. Taste is light sweet with a little dryness. Very moderate heat from the pepper. Light vinous acidity. Decent body. Fine carbonation. Quite juicy fruity balsamic like finish.

Can. Waitrose. Lovely label, which to be honest is probably why I bought it. Hazed up medium orange gold. Soppy white foam. Looks boss. Nose has nicely fresh citrus hoppage. Bit of pineapple. Light Nelson twang. Thankfully light on the oats. Taste is semi sweet with a decent citrus bitterness. Drinks easy and clean. Moderate bitterness to finish.
