33cl bottle from Hopduvel, Ghent. A hazy golden amber pour with a tight white head; tropical fruit aroma; caramel body with some good tropical fruit flavours and some Belgian yeast; and a weighty finish with more fruit, some warmth, and well hidden alcohol. A pleasant DIPA.

330 ml bottle at La Porte Noire in Brussels. Hazy, dark orange body with a big off-white head. Aroma is dry fruit, pine and grassy hop with caramel malt. Flavor is quite sweet caramel malt, dry fruit, some ripe peach and apricot, hay, some resin and average bitterness. Medium to full bodied and moderate aftertaste with sweet caramel malt and grassy hops. I miss some freshness and lighter fruit to balance the rather heavy malt, and I might have some more bitterness as well. Did not check the date here, but this feels like a “not very fresh” IPA. Not bad but nothing outstanding either.

330ml bottle. Moderately cloudy, dark amber colour with average to huge, firm, frothy, fairly lasting, moderately lacing, off-white head. Floral, unspecific fruity hoppy aroma, minimally herbal and grassy overtones. Taste is bitter hoppy, slightly grassy, floral and unspecific fruity, minimally peppery, herbal-grassy spicy yeasty, malty basis lends body and makes itself altruistic available as hop flavour exposition support. Harmonious and well balanced, very drinkable, humble, suppliant, without frills - simply a good beer.

Bottle from Dranken Geers, Oostakker, Nr Gent, Belgie, consumed at home Easter Sunday 27th March 2016 in the company of Isobel, Dom and Georgia. Pours hazy amber with a white head atop which is very clingy and sticky to the sides of the glass. Some grapefruit floods through, pleasant as opposed to a harsh bitterness, fruity with a dry finish. Aroma is a little bit earthy but there is a dab of spice. Pretty good but not as good as I’d hoped. I have three more bottles, I think I will retry at some point. A6 A3 T7 P3 Ov13 3.2

330 ml. bottle sampled & shared with Kraddel @ “The RARE Tasting”. Dark amber, little head. Nose is nice blue cheese hops but very oddly quite a bit of sweetness also here, getting some vanilla & dash of Belgian yeast, very odd but nice. Taste is a bit conflicting, some Belgian qualities upfront mixed with Belgian yeast but also blue cheese & mandarin hops, same odd vanilla, leading into more bitter herbal & light bitter insecticide qualities. Creamy & lightly body. Quite odd & conflicting but digging the blue cheese hops & odd vanilla sweetness.
