When introspection fails, it’s time to look outward for inspiration, perhaps Northward! One of the people who inspired me this past year is my friend Gabe Fletcher, of Anchorage Brewing Co. We brewed this biére together. I hope it inspires you. Northward!
Cheers & Mahalo plenty!

Great slightly hazy copper and blonde coloured body with a thick, four centimetre tall funky white laced head - just like a lot of nice belgie ales. Aroma of sour funk, grass, herbs, brett, lemons, coriander seed, yeast, green apples as complexity runs rampant. Light-bodied; Sharp spicey character at first with a light white peppercorn flavour, some light sour grape flavours and a very subdued belgian yeast note. Aftertaste is more prevalant with dry hops, alcohol, light wheat and some soft curacao and citrus notes as well. Overall, a very nice and robust wild ale that is closest to a saison, but with more complexity and depth and a nice finish. Great to sample and get my hands on as I love both of these breweries, and this beer is no exception to the quality that they typically produce. I sampled this 75 cL bottle after finishing a twenty mile run, purchased from New Beer Distributors in New York, New York on 18-July-2014 for US$16,25 sampled at home in Washington on 02-November-2014.

Bottle split at Craft Clerko, thanks to Kenny, 30/09/14. Hazed orange amber with a moderate off white swirl and edgeing. Nose is tangy mandarin, citric peel, bitter apricot, smoke, spice, musty wood rumbles. Taste comprises tangy citric rinds, light grapefruit, spice, bitter orange, straw, earthy, tartened tropical tunes. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, tarte citric rinse in the close. Shades of ’Here comes the Lilt Man’ with a sour rinse. Decent.

Craft Clerkenwell. Bottle tasting. Hazy gold beer, decent fluffy white head. Airy palate, semi dry. Good fine carbonation. Very airy malts, mild sweetness. Good brett, mild but slightly savoury. Light floralness and lemon tang, lemon rind. Touch of grapefruit marmalade. Light semi dry finish. Very tasty and nicely joined up.

Sampled at Where the Wild Beers Are, 6/7/14, Jolly Pumpkin version
Golden colored beer. The flavor has some fruit with a nice funky balance to it. The sourness is present, but sufficiently mellow to allow the other flavors to shine. I enjoyed this.

Bottle big thanks to Kenny. It pours cloudy golden-orange with a medium beige head. The nose is sweet, juicy, orange tango, marmalade, pineapple chunks, sherbet and lilt. The taste is crisp, tart, earthy, lemon peel, Seville orange, grapefruit, brett, funky, farmyard, mild acidity, spice and minerals with a dry, bitter finish. Medium body, moderate carbonation and foamy mouth-feel. Mighty tasty stuff.
