Description
Note that the Thornbridge Hall series (largely one off and specials circa 2010-15) deliberately carry the Thornbridge name in their title.

Innovation Passion and Knowledge in all we do - and to have some fun along the way. The Thornbridge story began back in 2005 when the founders Jim Harrison and Simon Webster recruited two young brewers to brew on a second hand 10-barrel kit in the grounds of Thornbridge Hall. Soon demand outstripped supply and the need for a new Brewery became clear. In 2009 a brand new state of the art brewery was built at Riverside, Bakewell to meet with demand and allow Thornbridge to develop their range of beers.

Brewing still takes place today on the original kit at Thornbridge Hall, which allows us to experiment with new brews, create bespoke Hall brews, collaborations and assist the main brewery in Bakewell.

Bottle, 5.9%. Cloudy golden colour. Soapy white head. Weak teaish hop aroma. Quite bitter hoppiness. So much aroma hops that it gets bitter and a bit rough. 6 3 6 3 15
Cask. Hazy golden colour. Quite hoppy aroma and flavour with an emphasis on flavour hops. 6 3 6 3 15

(Cask at GBBF, London, 2 Aug) Colour is golden with green tinges, huge foamy head. Nose is fruity and seriously hoppy with lots of grapefruit and lemon. Taste is fruity and hoppy with grapefruit, lemon, pineapple, pine needles and resin. Initial alcohol sweetness turns into a long (everlasting), very hoppy finish. Medium to full body. Rather one dimensional but great hop character. Brilliant!

A deep red beer with a thick brown head. The aroma is sweet with primary notes of berries, but a bit light for my liking. The flavor is sweet malty with strong notes of roasted malt, but also berries, and a slight acidity, which I guess stems from the roasted malt. The end is bitter.

(Bottle 50 cl) Pours a clear mahogany with a beautiful, warm, reddish glow and a handsome, retentive, beige head. Aroma is one of roasted malt. Fairly full and powerful body with some burned -albeit rather sweet - malty accents. Bitterness mainly deriving from the malts I believe. Not very typical British - almost American in style. 160806

Bottle conditioned. A hazy yellow beer with a lazing beige head. The aroma is quite light with primary notes of citrus, while the flavor is sweet malty with a light touch of citrus, leading to a dry and very bitter end. Nice UK IPA.

[Cask at GBBF] Clear golden. Strong grapefruity hop aroma. Sweet with rounded mouthfeel. Soft and solidly malty, yet zesty and dangerously drinkable. Finishes with medium bitterness. Citric and refreshing.

Cask conditioned at Merton Beer Festival Fri July 7th 2006. This beer was the fourth in a quartet of beers that for me were head and shoulders above all else available over this weekend. Warm golden in colour with a small head, the hoppy aroma struck you like a bolt of lightning it really was intense, coupled with some zingy citrus aroma’s flying around as well. This was a really lovely nice sweet superbly hoppy beer that had a drying finish. The taste was excellent and I can only think that sandwiching this between the Black Adder and 1872 Porter is the reason I haven’t give it an even higher rating, I should have tried this first, on its own without the taste of intense coffee and chocolate bitterness still lasting in my mouth from my previous beer. This beer is gonna’ win some awards it really is wonderful, great write up below from Glenn imdownthepub.

Cask gravity at Rare Breeds BF 06. Gold with lasting white head. Good hop/malt balanced aroma. Lovely in mouth. Good hop finish, some creaminess. Yet another great Thornbridge beer. The fruit and hop balance is fantastic. Citrus hop. My non Kent beer of the festival.

Cask gravity at Dover Beer Festival 2006. SilkTork thought that this was a 5/5. Yes it was good, but not perfect. Black with beige lasting head. Very nice imperial stout aroma, lots of intense dark malt. Very good in mouth and slightly syrupy, but not cloying. Finish has good light and dark components.
