Taste: Mild citric hoppy and mild fruity on a fine malty back.

Small beige head. Nearly opaque black body goes deep dark red at edge. Fruity licorice aroma with roasty chocolate notes. Very soft and harmonic aroma. Dry-sweet roasty mealy taste with honey and mint notes. Mid-to-light body. Mild, mealy mouthfeel. Dryish roasty caramelly aftertaste with herbal spicy notes. Lingering sooty finish. Lovely, and highly drinkable, but perhaps a bit understated. (0.4l draft at brewpub.)

On tap @ Amundsen. Dark brown, almost black body with a decent beige head. Quite light, but nice aroma of mild roasted, dark malt and a tiny hint of fruit. Flavor is smooth and pleasant dark malt, toast, some fruit, pine and balanced bitterness for a stout. The honey taste is more something one senses or perhaps imagines more than actually tastes, but I’m normally not to found of honey in beer so that’s good enough for me. This beer has a fine balance and actually an impressive good body for this low alcohol. A smooth and tasty session beer, nice.

On tap at the brewpub. It pours a dark brown body, looking slightly hazy, topped by a small, dark beige head. The aroma has some bonfire or charcoal, as well as milky chocolate and toast. The flavor is pretty much the same, with roasted malts kind of bitterness too. It’s medium bodied, creamy and dry on the palate, leading to a roasted, lightly bitter end. The honey seems to have little impact, probably only adding fermentables, which is fine to me, even though I like honey. Overall, a tad too one dimensional, but sure a decent beer anyway. 130526

Medium dark beige head. Opaque black body. Roasty nougat and cold coffee aroma with vaguely fruity soy sauce notes. Dry-sweet coffee and pine needle taste with roasty dry cocoa notes. Mid-to-thin body. Mild, soft, mealy mouthfeel. Dryish cold coffee and pine needles aftertaste with black chocolate and vaguely fruity notes. Nice, drinkable, clean and harmonic. The alcohol becomes more prominent as the beer warms up, which detracts somewhat. Reminds me of Mikkeller BGB. (0.3l draft at brewpub.)
