Fairly clear light amber coloured body with an orange glow at the bottom and a decent light brown glow at top - odd. Aroma of pungent earthy and perfumey hops with a large oatmeal and malt nose. Medium-bodied; Deep earthy and pungent malt note with a lot of bitterness and a light caramel and toffee touch. Aftertaste shows a hint of hops but largely showing a varied malt profile with oatmeal by far the strongest. Overall, an interesting and pungent beer with some good flavours and a deep backbone of oatmeal that shows well. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Whip In yesterday, 05-May-2014 in Austin, Texas for US$2.50 sampled in my hotel room here in Austin, Texas on 06-May-2014.

I like the name of this beer because it describes my short visit to San Antonio. Draft at Flying Saucer. Clear bright amber color, tan head. Aroma of subtle caramel. Taste is very bitter toasted caramel. Very nice body.

Bottle at Meddlesome Moth. Cloudy amber color with a medium thin white head that diminishes quickly to an outer ring. Stringy lacing on the glass. Aroma of tart cherries, yeast and oak. Medium-bodied with flavors of cherry wine, oak, yeast and subtle vinegar. The finish is mildly funky with a cherry aftertaste. Decent overall.

750mL bottle from 2009 or 2010. Aroma had a lot of caramel and toffee character with moderate burnt toast notes. Lighter roast, chocolate and nut character. Medium notes of raisin, fig and prune. Light alcohol note. Pours a fairly dark brown with some ruby highlights and burnt amber hues. Medium thick, half inch tall, tan head that shoes slightly above average retention. Light lacing and medium sized legs. Flavor has a light tartness to it. Medium strong caramel and toffee notes with some burnt toast and lighter roast character. Moderate bitterness and medium low alcohol spice. Some moderate raisin, fig and prune notes. Light phenolic spice. As it warms the chocolate becomes more pronounced. Mouthfeel is medium full bodied with medium carbonation. Low astringency and low alcohol warmth. Overall the beer is alright, but also not amazing. Lots of malt character with some complimentary fruit notes. The tartness was unexpected and not a good addition.
