Bottled. U.S. Beer #16 of 31 for American Beer Month! Pours a rather big head at the start, much like a pub draught. The brownish tan head settled enough for me to pour in more beer, and showed a Guinness "shamrock" on top. Now the foam is subsiding to a rocky moonscape with lace around it. Smells great, just lightly roasted, but enough of the black stuff for a solid body with blood highlights. Also some of that sweet/sour taste of a well-made fresh stout. Prominent alcohol bouquet for what’s normally a mild session style. Taste skips dryness and astringency for a kind of apple and cherry juice, but sweet, not cidery. No specific hop note beyond a bit of bitter, but then it leaves a little sting on the upper lip. Could definitely be the same yeast as used in their SNPA. A fine, enjoyable beer.

A comfortable ale with a several tastes — hops, spice, citrus — none of which hit you over the head. Moderate carbonation. A nice bitterness at the outset. Medium body.

Golden with a light head. Clean taste, slightly bitter. A step or two above mass market lagers, but certainly nothing to write home about. Underwhelming comes to mind.

2003 vintage Off-white head, falling away fast over hazy orange-amber ale. Sweetish cookies and cake-bottom with a whiff of hops. Little aroma of sweetened juniperberries. Mix raisins, lychees, cookies, cardemoms, cloves, honey-laden flowers, apples and a lot of (American) hops into a very evenly mix, and one might come near to this. Retronasal some resiny harshness. Well-bodied without appearing very heavy, slight oilyness, typical for an American beer. Superb, superb balance giving both a restrained and a rich feeling. Thanks to Logan Perkins.

Pretty good, but not up to the expectations that some of the other Sierra Nevada products have created. Aroma is weak and grassy, with a little bit of hops. Looks about like you would expect from a lager, light and bubbly with minor head that diminishes quickly leaving some nice lacing. Taste is about as expected for a lager, maybe a bit more grain and malt than most, though.

This beer is proof that microbrewers are quite able to make beers just as crappy as BMC. Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a medium golden color with a large fluffy white head. The aroma was typical macro sour malt. The flavor was typical macro sour malt with just a hint of nut in the undertones. If I had wanted a crappy BMC I would have bought one. Instead I was tricked by this piece of crap.

Bottle, Kroger. New rating - it’s been a dozen years (good god), so time for a re-rate. Pours gold with only a dusting of a head. Aroma is grasses, minor floral hops, some skunk. Flavor is bitter, unpleasant grassiness, some skunk, bread. Dry and still blah. __________________ Old rating from 2005: Yellow, little head. Stinky rotten grass and skunk aromas. Flavor is the same. Nasty. Appearance:3, Aroma: 4, Taste:3, Palate: 3, Overall: 7
