bottle - Pours murky light brown with dark yeast floaters. The nose is mild malt and herb (apparently heather). I personally didn’t detect any hops in the aroma or taste. The description does not mention them and if this is truly a several thousand year old recipe, then they aren’t there. That wouldn’t surprise me. Anyway, the malty flavor is poorly supported by a thin, watery body. Sweetness and low carbonation makes it slide down easily enough. Kudos to the brewer for keeping an ancient style alive, but I’m just not impressed.

(Bottle 50 cl) Pours a clear, dark brown with an orange hue. Tiny, off-white head. Aroma is one of hard roasted malt. Light body with malty, lightly burned coffee accents. Dry and very drinkable with a subdued bitterness. 140107

Bottle: Golden color with a large white head. Nose is minty and spicey, the taste is more sweet with hints of spice and more mint. It would be like a mint julep poured into a budweiser... No hops or malt here, just a yellow liquid impersonating (poorly) beer.

An amber beer with an orange head. The aroma very powerful with notes of berries - reminds me of raspberries - but really are tayberries. The flavor is sweet with a cloying artificial berry note, leading to a dry bitter end. If this is what tayberries tastes like, I don’t like them, but since I both like raspberries and blackberries, I’d like to try tayberries fresh and not put in my beer.

Pours bright amber into a shaker. Off-white medium head with very good retention. Alchohol and spruce aromas. Smooth with sweet honey and caramel. Lasting alcohol sting.

Big dark brown head over body that’s opaque black, except for dark red at edges. Sweet chocolatey aroma with milk notes. Taste is sweet and milky, with chocolatey roasty notes, and bitterish caramel and chocolate finish. Nice, mellow, and easy to drink, without too much complexity or challenge. (0.33l bottle.)

(Bottle 33 cl) Clear, almost black with a reddish hue and a small, creamy, light brown head. Some roasted malt in the aroma and distinct berries. Medium body with roasted malt notes and then a distinct, tart fruitiness from the berries with an astringent bitterness. Interesting. 101206

Bottle 0,33l. Dark red/black coloured. A brownish head that settles in a couple of minutes. Inviting aroma of burned malt. A rich and soft flavour of coffee and roastedness. Lasting bitter and sourish aftertaste - leaving you with a dry bitterness after a while.

Bottle. Reddish amber beer with a light head. The aroma is light and mainly floral and dry, and the flavour is very dry, watery with a strong element of unrippen fruit. Overall an OK drink.

Poured a deep black with a whispy white head like a porter or stout. Aroma is a bit of a let down, malty and sweet and slightly fruity and floral but nothing strong. Flavor is very pleasing and refreshing. Initial sip provides malt, fruity, salty and nuts. Oily and full in the mouth.
