Description
The Brooklyn Brewery started with a dream to return brewing to Brooklyn, once a powerhouse of American beer production. Today our beers travel to more than half the United States and over thirty countries. Our James Beard Award-winning Brewmaster Garrett Oliver and his team brew everything from classic styles to bold experiments and collaborate with brewers, innovators and artists from around the globe. We’ve met wonderful people in remarkable places, and we can’t wait to show everyone what’s next.

In 2016, Brooklyn Brewery sold 24.5 percent to Kirin, Japan’s second-biggest brewer. The partnership allowed Brooklyn Brewery to use Kirin’s distribution arm to sell in Japan and Brazil.

Amber color. Good American Barley Wine, malty without being too sweet, and with a strong hopping, giving also some fruitness.

12 oz bottle from 2004. Pours a thick yellow, clear, but not pale or thin looking. Decent white head, and a mix of sweet honey and almonds with crisp floral hops. Flavor begins slowly of light malt, sweet and a bit thin, but then some sour yeast notes come in and it eventually finishes very crisp and clean. No adjuncts, no skunkiness, just a drinkable, well-made lager. Dosent have the aroma of the Bohemian pilsners, but still has a good hops flavor, though could use some more flavor altogether.

Beautiful amber color. Very nice hoppy aroma, fruity, caramel. Reasonable body structure, featuring a quite strong caramel character supported by a strong (and quite aromatic) bitterness, and some fruitness (apricots).

TAP-Brown ale, with a faint malty aroma. Very nice nuts in the mouth with caramalized malts, slightly acidic, medium bodied.

Light brown ale with a hazy cloud. Nose of malt and cardboard Sweet malt with some nuttyness and a light hops, but again, the beer is oxidized, with the stale cardboard coming out. Body is still nice and would be medium.

A decent IPA but one that does not stand out in a crowded field. +++ Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer pours a copper color with a medium sized tan head that lingers a bit. The aroma is sweet and grapefruity with a mild floral hop scent underneath. Light in body. Light sweet grapefruity flavor No significant aftertaste. Not bad, but there are far better out there.

This beer tastes a lot like Samuel Adams Boston Lager to me. But, to me that is not a bad thing.+++ Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer pours a beautiful red-brown color with a small foamy tan head. There aroma was sweet, malty, with a definite presence of herbal hops. Strong hoppy flavor with some malt and sweetness. Medium length finish. Medium body. Ok.

I have mixed feelings about Brooklyn. They make a couple of wonderful beers and then a bunch of uninspired ones like this one. +++ Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer pours a murky brown color with a moderate tan head that lingers. There is a strong floral hop scent. The flavor is strong and sour up front and lingers with maltinesss. There is a malty aftertaste. It smells better than it tastes. An acceptable basic ale but nothing more.

This is a decent American Pre-Pro. Crisp and refreshing with more body and flavor than any current U.S. Marcos, and many imports as well. Refreshingly bitter.

Rich yellow beer supporting a white head as one would expect for a Pilsner. Slight hop bitterness and crisp finish make this a drinkable Pilsner.
