Bottle. Very malty aroma, hint of bonbon. Nice chestnut colour. Light brown head, disappears too quickly. Malty, sweet/sour flavour, reminding me of a slightly failed homebrew. But nice enough beer still.

I tried this one once last year. I do not recall being particularly impressed. Tried it again now to rate it. My opinion has not really changed any. Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle the beer pours a medium amber color with a large fluffy yellow head that lingers. The aroma is sweet and has nice amounts of nutmeg and cinnamon. The flavor is surprisingly dry. The spice is there but relatively subdued. There in not much else there but the mild spice. Very dry on the finish. I doubt that I would get this one again.

I used to be quite fond of Brooklyn but they have fallen a bit short of my expectations the last couple of offerings that I have had. This was the first time I had tried the octoberfest though. Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle the beer poured a bronze color with a medium sized tan head. The aroma was sweet and malty with a hint of caramel. The flavor was malty and slightly bitter, though it had caramel and hazelnut undertones. Overall a nice but not great beer.

April 2004.Hazy blanche with a nice banana aroma with cloves and other spices. Same in mouth with lactic notes. Light bodied.

April 2004. Deep dark ale with a moka head. Sweet malt balls aroma. Chocolate and butterscotch taste with oily texture, and light hops in finale. Mediun bodied.

12oz bottle Citrus, pine, peach honey and elderflower aroma - maybe a bit overly perfumed. Orange amber, low head, champagne bubbles. Burned note on the tip of the tongue comes before a neutral soapy light spot, woody notes, which in turn is followed by a quite flowery perfumed exit. Body feels lightish and mouthfeel is a tad fizzy. Sweet peachy aftertaste.

Bottled. Clear reddish brown. Caramelly and clean. Boring brief caramel flavour followed by a short finish with low bitterness. Lifeless and industrial. Is it just me or has this brewery gone downhill?

Cloudy yellow in color, with an intensely spicy aroma, that has slight hints of freshly harvested grain - quite sweet for a saison, with some banana/clove flavors that are more like a hefeweizen than a saison - slightly hoppy in the finish - a solid offering, even though it isn’t true to style.

2001 vintage, 11.8 ABV Fully hazy foxy-amber; yellowish head, fine, slightly irregular, slowly dissipating. Fruitcake, noble hops, raisins, mouldy oakwood, warm nose. Dry woody character, vinous, faint hoppy background, several malt notes, different but seamlessly blending. Walnut flavour, hidden alcohol. Warming up, some bitterish cherry flavours (Bitterkirsche), " boerenjongens " (cherries or plums on jenever). Warming, alcohol, slick, full-bodied. Long fruity aftertaste with bitter chocolate notes. A great one by Garett. Very balanced BW. Great opportunity to taste this 3-year old vintage - big thanks to Aaron Hecker!
