About
We started brewing in Burton-Upon-Trent in 1834. Then in 1898 we got itchy feet. So we moved down the road to the Albion brewery. We still like it so we’ve not moved again since.
We came to Burton for the water. Well, for the rocks the town was built on to be precise. The water trickles down through a thick layer of gypsum before we bring it back up again through our well. That’s what gives our beers the depth of flavour, character and crisp refreshing bitterness that you won’t find anywhere else in the world.

Brass coloured with a low, airy head. Faint apricot aroma. Nutty, slightly metallic flavour. Bitter almond-bitterness.

(275 ml bottle). Commercial description: "Full flavoured English beer" - my ass! Weak malty aroma, very weak flavour. They sure haven’t used too much of the Golding and Fuggle hops! Quite dry. I used most of it to wash down a meal. Definitely not a beer I’ll buy again!

Bold golden appearance with a long lasting head, malty pale ale aroma and a fruity/malty full and refreshing flavour. Pretty good beer.

Burnt orage with decent lacework - herbs and some grain/bread in the aroma - somewhat thin-bodied - a bit on the sweet side for a bitter - some caramel - tea qualities (as has been pointed out) - mild hops in the finish, with some light, pastry-like flavor - this would probably be a lot better from the cask - tasty, but boring.

Clear dark color, short brown head. Aroma of roasted malts, some licorice. Deep roasted malty taste, bitter, some chocolate and licorice. A bit thin though. Bitter palate.

Clear orange color, medium creamy off-white head. Aroma of english hops and some caramel malt. Taste is pleasant creamy, soft and bitter. Nice creamy texture.

Sour malt aroma. Nice coppery tan color with a nice white head. Has higher carbonation than most bitters - very light taste - watery with little body. A disappointing one.

Bottle: Poured a light brown beer with a quite decent head with standard retention. Aroma is comprised solely of malt. Taste is mostly comprised of malts with some well balance bitterness at the end. Decent session bitter but nothing extraordinary is going to happen here.
