About
We started brewing in Burton-Upon-Trent in 1834. Then in 1898 we got itchy feet. So we moved down the road to the Albion brewery. We still like it so we’ve not moved again since.

We came to Burton for the water. Well, for the rocks the town was built on to be precise. The water trickles down through a thick layer of gypsum before we bring it back up again through our well. That’s what gives our beers the depth of flavour, character and crisp refreshing bitterness that you won’t find anywhere else in the world.

This beer has a sharp flowery aroma - maybe a bit skunky from the clear bottle. The color is orange and it has a beutiful dense beige head. The flavor is sweet malty with notes of fruit, flowers, and caramel, leading on to an OK bitter end with hints of the alcohol - quite simple for an ale. The simpleness lets the alcohol shine thru. Not a favorite of mine - but on the other hand not bad.

Golden beer with a chocolate orange aroma and a hopped/dry typical Marstons flavour. Overall a pretty good pale ale.

Bottle. This beer has a lot going on. Hazy dark amber with an offwhite head. Aroms of floral and frruit hops with a little sweet malt. Light body - slightly watery. Flavor of fruit (peach, summer berry) and sweet malts with an edge of oak. Finishes sweet and fruity - a little too much so for my tastes. Complex beer, just not what I’d like it to be.

Bottled
Light amber, creamy light brown head, lace. Lots of CO2. Slightly hoppy and chalky dry aroma with some toffee sweetness. Very low bitterness, oily mouthfeel, watery palate. Decent session beer but a little bit too thin.

Dark brown with a beautiful light brown head. Roast malt aroma with a hint of chocolate, quite thin flavour with only a bit of bitterness.

Clear orange color, short dying head. Aroma of english hops, bitter and fruity. Some caramel malts in the taste, hoppy and bitter. Nice beer to start the evening.

(500 ml bottle). Deep golden to amber colour, moderate head. Aroma is hoppy and dominant vanilla. Flavour is not sweet, quite bitter actually, and the vanilla somehow seems out of place. I guess there's a reason most beers don't smell and taste strongly of vanilla. Nice for a change of pace, though.

Standard caramel ale appearance with an intense bitter caramel aroma, and a dry bitter caramel flavour. Overall a plain dry caramel beer.

Very flat amber beer with a very light slightly hopped aroma, and a watery flavour with a petrol like finish. Overall very poor, and low marks alround.
