Bomber from Charleston Beer Exchange. Pours really dark brown with a creamy light tan head. A floral and chocolate aroma combo? Med+ body. Flavor seems quite floral, I do get chocolate, along with some heavy malt, but it’s a bit spicey and finishes not all that sweet. Quite surprising. I’m liking it.

Bomber from Charleston Beer Exchange. Pours amber with a large creamy beige head. Lots of hop aroma with an undertone of rough malt which likely is the rye. Med body. Foamy carb. Flavor has a lot of rough nutty rye and some earthy and floral hop. Maybe citrus too. There’s so much flavor here that it’s hard to sort things out. Puts a nice burn on the tongue.

Decent ESB from NC, albeit a very, very malty one. Very malty. Almost as if it’s the antithesis of what you’d expect an ESB to be going on title alone. Not that it’s a bad beer, just one that flirts too closely with mediocrity. The feel is too thin for such a roasted-toffee flavored soul, causing the beer to grow slightly saccharine as it warms. I wish the hops were more prevalent and the carbonation heartier, since 13 Rebels does get rather hard to put away as the pint empties.

22oz bottle pours a hazy, burnt orange, with a creamy off white head. UH OH, infection. Nose is sour, smoke, lacto. Flavor is lemons, lacto, grass, orange juice. Medium bodied, sour finish.

A reddish amber ale with no head. A nice herbaceous spiced malt with orange peels and light Brett in aroma. In mouth, a clean caramel malt with light curacao, coriander, frankincense, not bad. On tap at Brewvvival, Feb. 26 2011.

A deep dark stout with a very thin moka head. In aroma, chocolate and some fusel alcohol, wood extract, a bit of funk. In mouth, an ashen chocolate with bitter grape peels, a bit off. On tap at Brewvival, Feb. 26 2011.

Not bad at all. Good earthy malt base coupled with a very prolonged, dry finish. Rye malts bring out a mildly tart streak, yet the hopping keeps the malts from reaching true potential. Tasty but a little less piney bitterness would benefit the rye.

22 oz. bottle. The pour is a translucent copper with a huge fluffy beige head. The aroma is apricots, floral hops, dates, and a little caramel. The flavor is sweet up front, get a little bitter, and finishes bitter and a little sour. The palate is medium wieght, sticky and very astringent. Overall, a subtle and complex beer. Not bad.
