Single ceramic bottle, painted somewhat gold, from the LCBO. After just finishing their ginger mead, there is not way this could be worst. Golden colour with a bigger head. Pear and apple aromas at first, but eventually, lots of caramel come out. Thankfully, not as sour as the other one. Caramel, apples and some milder lemon citrus. Gets cloudy like the other, near the last pour. This one is definitely better than their ginger mead, but still, not the best of mead.

Single bottle from the LCBO with a cork and cage. Ceramic bottle painted black. Mildly cloudy golden colour with no head, no lacing. Pear nose at first, but the ginger comes through. Then, some big lemon sourness with other citrus. The sourness is quite strong in the taste, appearing to be like what I remember Trafalgar beers to be - gone bad (infected). Very, very sour, but thankfully the ginger is present. And loads of lemon and citrus. Not really what I expected, as not sweet... where is the honey ??

Hazy or cloudy blond color, with evidently excessive carbonation, huge head. The aroma is not right; there is some nice wild strawberries (very light) with strong yeast, and some green hops. Smooth mouthfeel; strong spicy malt flavor, with a funky touch, yeasty, followed by gentle toffee; strongly bitter, although possible hop qualities have faded; long final, powerful, a bit harsh (because of the yeast too, probably).
It seems to be a rough beer; maybe the funkiness has developed unexpectedly; I’m willing to try it again, fresher.

Bottle - Ginger, honey and alcohol. Clear gold. Ginger bite and lots of alcohol. More like sake than a mead. Drain pour among 6 people who couldn’t finish it.

I always love these fancy jars and packages for beers, but of course when you splurge on such things it’s a risk that the quality of the actual beer can be compromised.... but the jar throws me back to 1500 when I was in a smoky tavern, wood and feces galore, sailors just back from the New World regailing me with stories, urging me to open it before the pressgangers stormed tha place.... Very little pressure pulling the cork off, obviously not much yeast in the mix. Soft aroma of yeast and apple. Foggy body with just a small head, but solid and reliable. The flavour, though - the flavour! A great mix of light ale and mead, cider notes, incredibly well balanced. It’s not a mead, yet it is, as it delivers mead taste with a decent beer carbonation on the back end. Modestly dry finish. This is a good experiment that turns out as a success.

Bouteille 500ml. de couleur cuivrée foncée et claire. Nez de grains de malt sucrés et légèrement rôti, léger de houblon hebreux aux notes florales avec des notes de caramel, de noix, de fruits (agrumes) et de maïs. Moyenne-mince en bouche avec un pétillement moyen-doux ainsi qu’une texture légèrmeent crémeuse, huileuse et aqueuse. Léger goût de noix avec des traces de pain grillé lors de l’entrée en bouche auquel se rajoute un goût de grains de malt sucrés et légèrement rôtis ainsi qu’un léger goût de caramel et quelques notes de maïs sucré puis en finale l’on retrovue une légère amertume de houblon hebreux aux notes florales et terreuses. Post-goût moyen, légèrement amer de houblon herbeux aux notes terreuses avec un léger goût de grains sucrés aux notes rôties ainsi qu’avec des traces de noix.

Bottle: Poured a clear dark color porter with a large dirty white foamy head with average retention and minimal lacing. Aroma consists of light dry roasted malt with some light sweet notes and very subtle cognac notes. Taste is a mix between light dry roasted notes with light residual sugar notes and a vanilla and liquor. Body is indeed too thin for style with medium carbonation. Not as bad as expected but not as great either.

Originally rated January 2010. Bomber bottle from the LCBO, cellared for a year. Pours a golden-orange colour with lots of little bubbles for carbonation. Huge off-white head that is fluffy with maximum retention and full of lace. Good aromas of the fuggles hop with some notes of nutty and caramel malts. A nice balance again in the flavours, with the caramel malt and the hop. A mild bitterness is present all the way through and into the aftertaste. Notes of nuts, light fruits (oranges, apples) A shock for a brew from Trafalgar... beautiful looking, no infection, very well-balanced all-over. Probably the best beer brewed by this brewer and an excellent overall ESB.

Thin porter it is. But, it still has some decent characteristics. Nice ceramic bottle with swing-top from the LCBO. Pours a clean dark brown, see-through, with red highlights. Frothy beige head with average retention and a little lace. Aromas of roasted malts, coffee, dark fruits, caramel, with hints of burnt wood and the cognac alcohol warmth. Wet thin mouthfeel and the taste seems watered-down. Some roasted burnt malts show up in the finish thankfully. Notes of dark fruits, hop bitterness, watery molasses and coffee. This could of been much better, had it had a stronger alcohol content (to have more punch in the mouth). Still, worth trying.
