This stout poured the usual deep black colour with a dishwater type foamy head. To the nose there are scents of smoke, oysters, glue, bread and burnt malt. First taste was quite smoky but thin for a stout. Kind of watery mouthfeel. Flavours of metal, smoke are the main found. The finish is thin and smokey with the palate carrying out to just smoke and a little bitter hopp flavour.

A deep dark reddish ale with a thin off white head. Aroma of chick pea puree, caramel and butter. In mouth, a ratbuher sourish malt with buttery notes, burned toast and oily mouthfeel. Boring. From LCBO Kingston, Oct. 2007. BB Jan 2008.

Bottle: Poured a deep burgundy color bock with a small foamy head with minimal retention and no lacing. Aroma is intensely sweet with an overabundance of primary sugar. Taste is cloying with way too much sweetness – totally gross and a drain pour. I can’t really understand what they try to do here but this is definitely the worst maple beer I had and I had some pretty bad one previously.

Bouteille 650ml (LCBO). De couleur dorée et voilée. Nez de levures fruitées (agrumes et zest, léger de pommes, notes de mangues et d’abricots), de grains de malt pâle, moyen de pain et de houblon floral aux petites notes herbeuses (herbes fraîches) avec des notes de butterscotch, de miel et métalliques. Moyennement ronde en bouche avec un pétillement moyen et une texture aux notes aqueuses. Goût de levures fruitées aux petites notes sûres et acides (agrumes et zest, léger d’abricots, notes de pommes cidreuses, traces de mangues, signes d’infection) avec un léger goût de grains de malt pâle lors de l’entrée en bouche auquel se rajoute un goût de pain ainsi qu’un petit goût de céréales sucrées et de faibles notes de butterscotch et de miel parallèlement à un goût moyennement amer et asséchant de houblon floral et légèrement herbeux (herbe fraîches, notes de foin) jusqu’en finale, où l’on trouve également des traces métalliques. Post-goût moyen et sec, moyennement amer de houblon floral avec un goût fruité (zest d’agrumes – surtout citron, pelures de pommes) ainsi que des traces métalliques.

Bottle: Poured a pale amber color beer with a medium bubbly head with some average retention. Aroma of unrefined grain is more or less pleasant. Taste is also dominated by some unrefined grain and medium sweetness. There is also a weird metallic taste which might be due to oxidation. It is too bad this beer wasn’t better because weather was perfect too enjoy such a beer.

In a nutshell, Trafalgar is becoming the Frères Houblons of Ontario....sour and infected...enough said.

Bomber from LCBO. A hazy golden lager with grainy grassy aroma. In mouth, a run of the mill product with signs of lactic acids, infection. No hops here. Not too good. Tulip festival edition.

This bock pours a near black colour with nice tan creamy head. Scents include molassass, roasted malt and maple syrup. First taste is thick feeling. Almost syrupy, go figure. Smooth, almost undercarbonated. Slight metallic taste. Strong roasted malt/molassass flavours. Very sweet, almost sickly sweet. To put back this whole bottle I’m feeling it would be like drinking a bottle of syrup. The finish is almost oily with a way too strong sweet flavour. I’m gonna try to finish it but I’m not gonna like it. My wife and I had a bottle each. Totally different flavours. Hers tasted like malt vinegar....
