This is class. Old school IPA. Alaska breweries rock this style.

12 oz. can, pours a deep dark brown with a small tan head. Aroma is barrel-heavy, with smoky bourbon, caramel and bready malt. Flavour is very syrupy, with intense caramel, smoky bourbon, bready malt, and some maple syrup. A bit too syrupy on the palate, with big boozy, bourbony syrupiness. Good but a bit unrefined.

Can: pours coppery with white head. Aroma is spicy, slightly yeasty. Taste is fairly bitter, not enough yeastiness or fruity esters. Not great.

12 oz. bottle, pours a clear bright golden with a small white head. Aroma brings out lots of oak, a nice wild bugginess, and a bit of juicy stone fruits. Flavour is bright, with lots of oak, real nice bugginess, and some stone fruit-like juiciness. Bright, vibrant, oaky, buggy, fruity finish with everything in nice balance. Excellent.
