Description
Whiplash began as a side project for Alan & Alex back in 2016. Both working in brewing already, they rented tanks at the weekend and released single batch small releases for fun from their own place of work and other friend’s breweries around Ireland. Professional beer dudes who were gypsying for fun. Things escalated and by the end of 2017 Whiplash was its very own pain in the neck with the guys going full time, brewing Whiplash beer all over Ireland and Europe. 2019 saw the two complete their microbrewery build and establish Ballyfermot, Dublin as Whiplash headquarters complete with their own custom designed brewhouse delivering small batches of big beers. Now with a home, a kit and a small crew: Whiplash are very much the Dublin brewery at the forefront of all that’s modern in Irish beer.

Panda thanks to Cloin. A mild to medium haze on this gold beer, small bubbly pale cream colour head. Light palate, mildly dry, decent fine minerally carbonation. Smooth light pale malts, a slightly ripe creamy sweetness. The unusual hop combo of Wakatu and Pacifica bring a floral lime, sweet citrus, a little hop spice. A mild green hop element, slightly grassy - earthy. Fair old dose of hop spice on the back end. Took a few gob fulls for me to get into this one but, it won me over. Different and drinkable.

330ml draught at Cafe Sånn. Kindly shared by Finn. Clear golden body under a large white head leaving upper part lacing on the glass. Herbal hops and grain on the nose, quite inviting. Slightly honeyed sweet malt-hoppy flavours, bread-like and a note of pineapple. Rounded malt-fruity ending, mid-dry. Pretty decent. (Tromsø, 19.12.2025).
