Description
Whiplash began as a side project for Alan & Alex back in 2016. Both working in brewing already, they rented tanks at the weekend and released single batch small releases for fun from their own place of work and other friend’s breweries around Ireland. Professional beer dudes who were gypsying for fun. Things escalated and by the end of 2017 Whiplash was its very own pain in the neck with the guys going full time, brewing Whiplash beer all over Ireland and Europe. 2019 saw the two complete their microbrewery build and establish Ballyfermot, Dublin as Whiplash headquarters complete with their own custom designed brewhouse delivering small batches of big beers. Now with a home, a kit and a small crew: Whiplash are very much the Dublin brewery at the forefront of all that’s modern in Irish beer.

Can at Goblet with Ogi. Mruky yellow-orange body, off-white head. Pleasant big orange and stone fruit aroma. Smooth, sweet taste, creamy oaty backbone, ending in herbal bitterness, the fruitiness of the aroma really not matched that much. Okay overall.

Can with Ogi at Ambasada. Hazy yellow-golden body, off-white head. Herbal and somewhat resinous aroma... hm. Oaty taste, watermelon gum, herbal touches, light onion, light resin, bit of bitterness, well hidden alcohol. Okay really, better than the other hoppy stuff we had from them this time at least.

Can at Ambasada with Ogi. Misty yellow-golden body, off-white head. Citric, bit papery and oaty aroma. Stale taste, dried stone fruit, bitterish herbal finish... slgihtly juicy but very much feels old. Fresh import, beer likely from November... :sigh:

Can at Ambasada, thx Iznogud & Lukica! Misty yellow body, off-white head. Oaty, raisins, apples, cooked peach. Smooth oaty taste, bit dull, herbal, mildly peachy taste, nutty, flat but nice nuff body-wise. Dunno, not the freshest.

150ml draught at Cafe Sånn. Hazy pale golden body, lacing rings from a film-type layer. Inviting smell of fruity wheat with a citric note. Hop fruity taste of lemon and orange, backbone of malted wheat. Soft fruity tail. Quite refreshing. (Tromsø, 25.03.2026).

440 ml can, from Left Field Beer webshop, England. ABV is 11.4%. Black colour, small and thin tan head. Weak aroma of roast malts, hints of cold coffee, maple syrup and cinnamon. Rich mouthfeel, low carbonation. Very sweet flavour, notes of lactose and maple syrup, lots of cinnamon, chocolate, roast malts. Moderate bitterness. Would not buy again.
