Bottle 0,5 l at Tromsø Ølfestival 15 Aug 07. Dark golden colored. A tanned creamy head. Hoppy and fruity aroma. Juniper? Carbonated. Strong malty and fruity flavor. Dry bitter aftertaste. A bit unbalanced.

Bottle. Rich ruby black beer with a nice dark tan head. Chocolate, caramel, wheat aroma. Chocolate, coffee, caramel, toffee, wheat flavor. Rich and full bodied. Yeasty, earthiness lingers with lots of chocolate and roast. Alcohol noticable. Takes a chance and succeeds in something a bit different.

Bottle, 6%. Batch#28. Weak caramelly aroma. Hazy caramel colour. Very small creamy head. The flavour is malty with a little hops and a hint of dust. Mild carbonation. Quite süffig.

500 ml bottle, thanks to Ole_R. Like all Haandbryggeriet beers it is bottle conditioned. ABV is 4.5%. Malts include wheat malt and Münchener malt. Batch No. 102. Brewed Oct. 2007, BB date March 2009. Mahogany coloured beer, hazy when the sediment is poured. Moderate beige head. Moderate aroma of malts, bakery and chocolate, hints of spices. The flavour is fruity and slightly acidic, with distinct notes of Münchener malts. The finish is spicy with a sharp bitterness. Not a bad beer, but it somehow seems a bit unbalanced - the flavour elements don’t blend together very well. I am not sure if this is a recipe worth repeating next year.

500 ml bottle. Beautiful red/brown body with a medium beige head. Aroma is malt, caramel, yeast and something spicy. Flavor is slightly roasted malt, caramel and somewhere in the background there something I have recognized in several of the HB beers. Not sure if it some kind of spices or the yeast itself. It could remind me a bit about backing yeast? It makes the finish a bit sharp and almost a soft over ripeness in a way. Not to happy with this, otherwise medium body and a balanced fine bitter finish. Quite a typical brown ale. Thanx to Ole_R

Deep, opaque charcoal-brown body, medium, tight ochre head with the clumping characteristic common to wheat beers. Big, bold roasted to charred malt nose, licorice, and coffee. Charred malt body, with coffee notes, a touch of molasses, burnt brown sugar, and tangy wheat. Very bitter, long, chalky finish. Reminds me a bit of Nogne O Imperial Stout. Brash and well-done.

Medium yellowish beige head. Reddish brown opaque body. Yeasty, fruity, roasty aroma with spice notes. Faintly acidic, wheaty yeasty roasty taste with burnt notes. Some spice as well, and chocolate. Dry metallic roasty wheat aftertaste. Has the signature HB taste. Slightly light body; probably would have been even better with more alcohol. Nice! (0.5l bottle, Christmas gift from Knut Albert.)

Huge roast and coffee aroma. Alot of molasses in the nose too. Lightly plummy. Big grainy roasted flavors, slightly tannic and astringent, near puckering at the back of the tongue in that acrid imperial stout way. Tannins keep the sweetness in check. Lingering dark roast coffee in the finish. Perhaps some hints of bitter chocolate but there so much roast in here its hard to say what else. Full palate but not chewy, with a warming finish. Near black, opaque with a thin brown head. Neat and I suppose unique, but not a truly great one.

Bottle, thanks for sharing Todd! Wood, juniper, smoke, light soap aroma. Brown, huge off-white head. Fairly harsh smoked, chocolate, abrupt metallic finish, perfumed juniper. Dry, but relatively thin body. Not harmonic but interresting.
