Bottle. Unclear dark brown color with a huge, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, light brown head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, roasted, burnt, caramel, chocolate, light hoppy, light yeasty, notes of licorice, spicy and light alcohol. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and bitter with a average to long duration. Body is medium to light, texture is oily to watery, carbonation is soft - lively. (230108)

Bottle. [Batch #44]. Unclear dark brown color with a huge, frothy, excellent lacing, fully lasting, beige head. Aroma is moderate to light heavy malty, roasted, caramel, chocolate, light to moderate yeasty, pepper, spicy. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and bitter, light light acidic, salty, with a long duration and a very complex taste. Body is medium to light, texture is watery to oily, carbonation is soft / lively, (champange sound and beer all over the tabel), finish feel is light alcoholic. (230108)

Pours a deep, slightly watery, opaque black with a foamy tan head that took a while to settle and lasted the length of the glass. Aroma is heavy on the roasted malts with a distinct woody aroma on the end. Flavor has plenty of roasted malt, nuts, wood, maple, chocolate, caramel, and vanilla. Finish is slightly watery with plenty of lasting bitterness from the heavy roast. This was a nice, solid porter, but for the money you can probably get something with some more complexity.

Not bad, tastes like a big dry stout. Lots and lots of roast, ashy with alot of coffee. Medium palate but not alot of heavy sweet malts. Rather, notably dry, bitter and roasted. Quite a bit of carbonation, with a big foamy head and a fizzy mouthfeel. Nearly opaque, deep crimson at the edges in the light.

Bottle: Very dark brown pour with crimson edges. Large beige head. Roasty tones, dark chocolate, and dark fruits make up a nice aroma. Tastes of roasted malt, slightly burnt, coffee, bitters, currants, and has a slight fruity twinge. Enjoyable. Thanks BuckDich.

500ml Bottle- Dark brown with red tinges and a tan head. Fruity and slightly metallic aroma with a very slight hoppiness. Chocolatey, fruity and hoppy taste which is quite nicely balanced and its taste belies its strength.

Bottle. Pours a nice, reddish brown body with some clouds, and a small, beige head on top. Rum-raisin, sweetness, some roasted malt and caramel and a wee touch of yeast on the nose. Dry in the mouth, sweet in the background, roasted malt, caramel and hops in the flavor. Medium body. Quite bitter finish with roasted malt. The hoppy bitterness comes stronger towards the very end, lifting the experience slightly. A nice brown ale. Rating: 6-4-6-3-13-3.2. (080108)

Bottle, #102. It pours an unclear brown body with a reddish hue and a small, creamy beige head. There seems to be a little sourish note to the aroma, which mostly consists of roasted malt, caramel and dried fruits. Maybe rum soaked raisins instead of dried fruits? Or maybe some port-like scents? Not really sure what it is, it’s quite volatile and in the background. Maybe it’s the wheat playing a trick? Flavorwise it follows the same path as the aroma. There’s a tiny sourness I don’t remember from half a year ago, followed by caramel sweetness and roasted malt. No, it’s not sourness, it’s a little oxidation going on, both in aroma and flavor. There’s also some notes of yeast, and a weak, pleasant hoppy bitterness doing some work towards the end of the flavor. Medium body. Lasting finish with roasted malt, some sweetness, and both coffee-like and hoppy bitterness. A quite complex beer with good drinkability. If you don’t like oxidation, it probably should be drank fresh, but I really enjoyed it the way it tasted eight months after bottling. Went down easily in the summer heat. (080723)
