Description
The brewery was founded in 2005 by four home brewers who wanted to make high quality beers. In 2016 two of the original founders retired, and the brewery is today owned by a constellation of the two remaining founders, some employees at the brewery and three other Norwegian craft breweries.
Haandbryggeriet currently has 10 employees all participating in developing new ground breaking beers and recipes.
The brewery has a wide selection ranging from classic and traditional beers to new and innovative brews and hybrid beer styles. Sometimes brewed with local and Nordic ingredients such as cherries, sea buckthorn, raspberries, and lingonberries. Haandbryggeriet has since 2005 also made high quality sours and barrel aged beers such as porters and Christmas beers.

Batch 49. Pours an almost brown color but its just extremely dark red. Looks very thick and gelatin-like with the small chunks settling at the bottom of the glass. The small khaki head never fades. The strong aroma is acidic Flanders Red right off the bat. THere is a lot of super musky cherry, lots of acidity and ample barrel coming through. Its all just mixed up and turns into a lightly festering perfume thang. Taste starts sour with slightly spoiled cherry juice. there is light sweet cocoa from the malts (which I love to pick up in a Flanders Red) in the aftertaste. All of it is surrounded by acidic spikes. All this is wrapped in a medium body. Really enjoyed this and will buy again.

bottle, pours dark oily pitch black, gigantic brown head, roasted grains, coffee, charchoal, wooden fire put out by water, grill coal aroma. flavor is roasted and burnt wood and charcoal, roasted grains, faint licorice, flavors so strong they hide alc, but alc, can be sensed. afraid i have to admit that this one is too roasted for me. if there was more chocolate, more alc, more something else, it could’ve been truly great. if you like roasted go for it. most roasted/burnt flavor i ever tasted in a beer.

Bottled. A dark red-brown beer with a huge bubbly brown head. The aroma is sweet with notes of dusty hops, caramel, nuts, alcohol, pistacio, and marzipan. The flavor is sweet malty with notes of nuts, caramel, dusty hops, roasted malt, and alcohol, leading to a dry finish with notes of molasses. The body is thin inspite of the alcohol note.
