Bottle. Smokey to start with a bitter finish and lots of complexity in between. Cloudy, dark copper body with a short off-white head. Malty nose of campfire, toasted grain and cherry. Hints of spiciness and earthiness along with a note of floral hops. The flavor is moderately sweet and lightly bitter, but the bitterness and smoke crank it up a notch in the finish along with the alcohol. Medium body and smooth texture. Moderate carbonation. Nice that the smoke compliments rather than dominates the flavors. Interesting and enjoyable.

50 cL bottle, batch 60. Pours black with a dense chocolate brown head. Roasted malt aroma, nice note of chocolate and a distinct hops wooden note shining through. Smooth fullbodied brew. Flavour is a lovely mix of hard roasted malt and acidic hops touch. Shows a solid alcohol presence lightly burning into the finish yet smoothend by the chocolate notes.

Sour milk in the aroma. Flavor has some malt, dry, and monastary cheese that has been left out. Thick an full on the palate.

Rerate, cask at HaandBryggeriet’s stand at Parkteatret’s "Beer Day", + bottle at Bar & Cigar, Oslo: Remarkably good - I’m upping it a few points! Original rating: 500 ml bottle, as HaandBryggeriet Dobbel Dose IPA, courtesy of Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. Bottle conditioned, unfiltered and unpasteurised. Batch #108, brewed Nov. 07, BB Nov. 09. ABV is 8.5%. Very cloudy orange-brown colour, big off-white head. Nice hoppy aroma, notes of flowers and orange marmalade, a hint of oak too. The flavour is sweet (too sweet) and somewhat alcoholic, with a substantial dominance of hops (as expected from a Double IPA), but not quite as extreme as I feared. Bitter finish. When pouring the last sediment in the glass the beer becomes extremely muddy, but the flavour also becomes more complex and interesting.

(From old notes, bottle on 2008-01-12) Beatiful head. The wheat malts used balance the taste which balance the slightly burnt taste. The hops are there and are quite ok but their taste could open up more.

50cl bottle from Alko, Finland. Batch #124. Extremely lively, almost explosive on openning; cloudy amber with a thick cream head; rich buttery peach aroma with spicy yeast undertones; thick, smooth and spritzy in the mouth, with mellow fruit and a sherbert yeasty fizz; rounded bitter finish, with warming alcohol and some gingery spice. Very pleasant, but would prbably have been a lot better if I’d allowed the bottle to rest for a couple of days.

0,5 lt Bottle thanks to KnutAlbert. My second beer from Haandbryggerietan IPA. Not that bitter with some sweetness. Yeast and malt are very well balanced. Very flowery aroma and taste. Mild hoppiness and hints of spices are also present. I really enjoyed this one.

0,5lt bottle thanks to KnutAlbert. Black with thin beige head. Neither to sweet nor to bitter. Aromas and taste of caramel,coffee,roasted malt and hints of liquorice.Dry finsh with nice aftertastes. If only it weren’t that light. Nevertheless a very decent beer that I really enjoyed.
