Clear darkish amber beer. Smooth and soft. Quite malty with soft fruit coming through fairly quickly. Not hoppy fruit but a slightly tart orange that turns sweet in the finish. Not a traditional lager and all the better for it!

A hazy amber beer. Very frothy - annoyingly so - white head that takes ages to die back. Soft palate, frothy in the mouth as it is in the glass. A little malt and a little hop, doesn’t taste anything like 7.2%. Just much too gassy - like drinking foam!

Bottle best by 7/2009: Very oaky overripe whole orange nose. Shimmering copper, thin head. Malty and woody. Moss, dirt, and overripe oranges are prevalent. Not super bitter, but very earthy. Alcohol burn is tasteful and appropriate. Pretty nice.

Year old can: Dried grass clippings on the nose. Hazy copper, fine floaties,thin yellow head. Metallic sweet barley malt flavor. Nutty cashew finish. This was not all that bad and quite enjoyable even in its advanced age, particularly for the style. Is the tinniness from the liquid or the can? It’s probably the liquid, but I’m dying to have a fresh sample to decide. Definitely should re-rate.

Bottle 2009: Barley and toffee nose. Hazy ochre, headless. Slightly sweet malt and toffee. Not very dynamic, but nice texture. Alcohol not noticeable. Not very woody, no hops. This probably wasn’t a great beer when fresh, but the age hasn’t hurt it.

Bottle from Beers of Europe @ kloneo. Hazy orange colour, white head. Aroma is hoppy with a bit of pine. Flavorur is hoppy, pine, slight malted, grapefruit, sour fruits, little alcohol burn. Fairly bitter finish.

Bottled. Hazy orange golden color, short head. Aroma of strong harsh hops, quite sharp. pine, grapefruit. Bitterness is on the contrary pretty soft, especially compared to the more harsh aroma. I was in the mood for such a DIPA, so quite nice.

Bottle. Pours a mostly clear amber with a medium, white head. Aroma of spruce and pine, with faint notes of caramel malt. Flavor is intensely piney, what I would expect drinking sap might be like - and not in a good way. Didn’t get much sweetness or [pleasant] bitterness. Medium bodied with average carbonation. Finishes with more spruce, sticky and not very enjoyable. Perhaps thisdeserves another try, but my first experience was decidedly not good.

[355ml can from Beers of Europe] Pours amber-brown with a thick cream head. Slight fizz, but a smooth mouthfeel. Smells malty. Taste is initially metallic, but that soon fades to leave sweet malts with the taste (but not the bitterness) of American hops - lemon and pine. A little oaky vanilla in the background develops into a sweet (but very short) honey finish. A very pleasant, easy drinking beer that tastes great - I could happily chug a few of these!

Bomber from ericandersnavy, who never ceases to acquire and share beer from the heart of America. And even beyond. Pours copper with a decent foamy off-white head. Smells malty and lightly spicey. About medium body with mild carbonation. Flavor is malty and something like fresh peach with lightly spicey aspects. Thins a bit with time, but the flavor goes on. Very drinkable beer.
