Cask gravity at Red Lion, Snargate. Orangey gold colour with no head. Lovely sherberty hop aroma. Moderate fullness in mouth, more rose petal/sherbert hop on end. Really quite lovely. Hops and malt are just in the right balance and the hops never run away with it.

Cask condition, handpull, Simple Simon’s, Canterbury. Mahogany colour, lasting bubbly beige head. Not a huge aroma. Bit watery in mouth, with syrupy red fruit malt. Not a huge amount of hop, it’s just a bit of red syrup in water. Dull, dull, dull.

Half on cask at The Dove Street Inn, Ipswich. Dark golden. Great lacing on the glass. Light sweety aroma. Much better in flavour with notes of fruit and malt. Rather sweet impressing and missing bitterness. Creamy and smooth (23.09.2006).

Cask at GBBF 2006. Gold/copper, thin off white head. Nice enough hop/caramel/yeast mix for a slightly hoppy bitter. Yeah, it’s fine, soft in mouth. Hop on end is ok.

(Cask at Crown, Stockport, 29 July) Colour is amber with tawny hints, disappearing off-white head. Nose is malty with dark fruit, orange, mandarin and apricots. Taste is malty with notes of orange (bitter orange marmalade) and apricot jam, drier finish with a slightly grassy hop character. Nice enough, but lacking the punch.

[Cask at GBBF] Dark brown. Sweet and light bodied with rounded mouthfeel. There’s roasty malt and corn flakes. Feels light and easy going. A more than decent mild.

[Cask at GBBF] Hazy deep golden. Restrained grapefruit aroma. Medium sweet with rounded mouthfeel and mediu, body. Somewhat sugary, but aromatic hops dominates, though the flavours aren’t that intense. Low bitterness.

(Cask at Ship & Mitre, Liverpool, 24 July) Colour is golden yellow with amber notes, frothy head. Nose is fruity and hoppy with citrus, grapefruit and a hint of toffee. Taste is fruity with a distinct grapefruit tone, notes of orange peel and toffe. Nice hoppy bitterness in the finish. Very nice, a positive surprise.
