Description
Initial brewing in 1979 at London St, Swindon. Moved to Penzance Drive in 1990 at an Old Locomotive Shed. Bought by Burns Leisure in 1999 but the group subsequently collapsed and the Brewery was taken back on by the original owners. In 2009 the brewery was bought by Simon Buckley of Evan Evans, who proposes to close the Swindon brewery.

Cask handpull at Market Porter. dark orange colour with lasting beige head. some hop, some ok malt. Hops are quite green and the finish has more of this enticing hop

Cask Handpull at Market Porter. Orange beer with off whie head. Pleasant citrus fruit nose, some apple, some acids. Fairly typical of Archers, some hops on nose and on finish

Cask, gravity dispense at Red Lion, Snargate, Kent. Golden beer with apple fruit on the nose, bit thinnish and acidic in mouth but with good hoppy finish that rescues it.

Cask at Head of Steam, London Good strong beer from Archers Dark gold colour with good balance of fruit malt and hops erring more on the side of the malts.

Cask at Harvey’s wine bar, Folkestone. Normally one of my favourites, but this was very tired. Golden in colour but thin nose, some citric acidity but not the bright flavours normally associated with this beer. Bit of hay on the nose. Thin finish

Gravity at Red Lion, Snargate, Kent. Russet colour, flowery hops and sweet nose. Fulllish in mouth, sweet alcohol, syrupy. Alcohol finish with a dying hop flavour, some light raisiny malt fruit

cask at bohemian in deal, kent. gold in colour, friuty hoppy nose. Gd in mouth with zingy citric finish. Gd spring beer

Cask conditioned at the Smithfield, Derby. Black (= very dark ruby) colour, low head. Prune / plum aroma. Flavour is quite fruity for a stout, but the coffee notes are there too. Decent.

Sampled cask conditioned at Nynäshamn Real Ale Festival, Sweden.
Hazy golden. Flowery hop nose. Dry, rounded, deliciously soft mouthfeel. Flavourful andhop accented with a lingering bitter finish. An excellent, distinct bitter.

Sampled at the Bag O' Nails, Bristol...fruity (blackberry), hoppy, slight leather note, refreshing. Bursts with flavour.
