(Cask at Market Porter, Borough, London, 23 July) Colour is dark copper/pale amber. Nose is fruity and sweet with hints of honey. Taste is fruity with mandarin, orange and a hint of honey sweetness. Nice in the summer heat, but a bit too sweet for me.

Cask@Cask & Barrel, Edinburgh. Pale copper brown, small creamy off-white head. Metallic, malty, slightly hoppy aroma. Watery palate! Mildly grassy hoppy, some sweet notes in the finish. Uninspiring.

Cask handpull at Fleur de Lis, Sandwich. Deep copper colour, with thin white head. Odd yeast aroma. Quite malty in mouth with some caramle and a bit of earthy hop on end. Finish is quite nice with lemony toffee.

Cask handpull at Fleur de Lis, Sandwich. Very blond/pale gold beer with lasting white head. Blond woody beer. Could be some wheat in here. Citrus bite on a hoppy end. Fairly typical summer beer of this style. OK, but a bit bleached.

Cask gravity at Red Lion, Snargate. I came to this pub to celebrate a little bit of history. As far as I am aware, the cause behind any petition I have ever signed, has failed. This one concerned the fact that South Central trains implemented a timetable which meant only the first and last trains of the day would stop at Appledore station, thereby making it more difficult for the public to access this National Inventory listed pub. Due to the weight of protest the train company has changed their timetable as of last week and trains once again stop at Appledore on a regular basis. This is a gold beer with thin white head. Sweetish aroma. Strong golden ale with some pear drop fruit hop. A bit more syrupy than Summer Lightning. Good enough but lacks the "I want another gulp-ability."

Cask gravity at Red Lion, Snargate. Copper colour with thin white head. Rose petal hop aroma. Satisfying in mouth. Juicy. Really great flavours. Tangy citrus tangerine and grapefruit. Ooh, this is nice. Underlying malt too. Really good and surprisingly different. The length of finish of tangerine juicy fruit is remarkable.
