Cask Conditioned at Cockney Pub, Århus
Hazy amber color; unusual creamy head. Light, nice grassy aroma, light apples, light cheese. Some malt and toffee flavor, light aromatic hopping, but too bitter at the end. Good promises, but with some minor flaws.

Cask at Charlie’s Bar, Copenhagen. A dark amber beer with a nice tan head. The aroma is sweet malty with notes of caramel and some flavors. The is sweet with notes of malt and toffee, and some butterscotch, leading to a quite bitter finish.

Cask at the Wharf, Aalborg. It serves a clear, dark, dark brown body, next to black, and is topped by a tiny beige head. More or less just a layer or two of bubbles. The flavor is roasted and coffeeish, with some fruits in the background. Too coffee-ish and heavy roasted for my likings. The flavor has a little sweetness to give it some more balance, but it’s still a dry one, with fruity hoppyness and some hoppy bitterness. Medium body. Some sour note too. Fruity finish with some bitterness. Not my favorite porter, easy to drink and all that, but too dry and charcoal-ish for me. (090205)

From cask at Charlies. Pours clear and golden orange with a small off-white head. Mild roasted malty aroma. Sweet andslight caramelish with a light hoppy fruity note and a distinct bitterness coming through. Bitter and fruity finish. Ends quite dry.

Cask at the Back of Beyond (JDW), Reading. Amber with a dense cream head; malty aroma; smooth and creamy with thin earthy malts and lacking finish.

(Cask at Charlie’s, Copenhagen, 14 Feb 2009) Black colour with frothy, pale brown head. Malty, roasted nose with coffee, chocolate and dark berries. Malty, roasted taste with notes of coffee, chocolate, tobacco and a hint of liquorice. Dry, on the thin side. Tasty and very drinkable porter.

Cask-conditioned at the Inn on the Green, Bristol 13/02/09. Pale gold with a decent white head that left a layer of foam down the glass. Sweet malts in the aroma and flavour with a slightly redeeming bitter finish. A bit disappointing.
