35cl can in Shinjuku, expensive. Pours murky pale yellow color almost milky. Creamy white head, persistent. Aroma of wheat, flour, banana, pizza dough, light spice. Taste is balanced. Average carbonation light to medium body. Nice weizen from Japan.

12 ounce can thanks to Mick. Reindeer and snow on the lime green design. Cool. Pours a mostly clear orange yellow color with a small white head. A soft malty perfume nose. Sweet, toast, lemons, some light perfume. Very nice and light.

Bottle: Poured a hazy yellow color ale with a nice medium white foamy head with OK retention and some lacing. Aroma of light wheat flavours with some residual sugar notes. Taste is also a mix of wheat flavours with some residual sugar notes and light bubble-gum notes. Body is full for style with good carbonation. Not bad but complexity/drinkability were not as high as I had expected.

A small can at Matt’s. Pours a hazy straw with a white head. Aroma is slightly chemical with some bananas, spices and smokey notes. Taste is similar. Meh.

Tasting at Matt’s, can
Cloudy blond color, a bit pale. The aroma is classic for a Hefeweizen, spicy and estery, light banana. The flavor is a bit different, more sour, a bit lemony, and spicy.
Not bad; it’s messy, but at least it has some character.

Can, pours a cloudy blonde with a medium white head. Aroma brings out light banana, biscuity malt, and some herbal, vegetal notes. Flavour brings out a lot of cloves, a little citrus, and a hint of banana. Very citric on the finish, with the clove dominating. Not too thrilling.

"Silver bottle" in Oviedo, Spain. Hazy amber color, with a medium white head, fading. Aroma of banana and spices. Taste is sweet but balanced, caramel, licorice, spicy on the tongue. Medium carbonation. A good beer, I liked it.

The last beer of the night is Ginga Kogen’s latest release: Soyo fuu no Kölsch 5% I like how they played with the can design. I find it quite cheerful. The beer itself pours a deep opaque gold with a fluffy white head that leaves spotty lacing behind. The aroma is soda bread, wheat dust, light sweetness with a mild herbal hop component. Light bodied and dry with w seltzer like carbonation. The taste is again dusty wheat and barley, a brief hit of sweetness then a sharp green herbal hoppiness. In the pit of my stomach I find it overcarbed giving me something like heartburn but not too bad. I just feel after the welcoming label it’s kind of aggressive for a kolsch. After forgetting about it, half a glass warmed up quite a bit allowing the flavors to come together and the beer to mellow so I’ll give it a small boost for that. The dusty wheat flavor makes this beer a bit weird.

Can from Foodshow. Light grainy nose with some faint lemon and the ginga kogen house yeast. Sweet on the palate with some lemon zest towards the finish. Active carbonation with some peppery hops on the finish. Not bad, but too sweet for my liking. --- Beer merged from original tick of Soyokaze no Kölsch (そよ風のケルシュ) on 09 Jun 2016 at 19:03 - Score: 6. Original review text: Not a bad kolsch....nice peppery pils like finish. Great carbonation.

Can. Malty nose, yeasty, bread, light fruits, low hop. Cloudy gold with a low head. Quite malty, wheat biscuits, orange. Rather full and heavy for the style. Almost no hops. Ok, not a kolsch, and basically quite boring.
