Description
We are an East Vancouver craft brewery inspired by tradition and creativity, and go beyond the ordinary to celebrate that which is strange* and extraordinary. The beer we make is influenced both by old world traditions and West coast ingenuity as well as by seasonal ingredients. Our barrel programme promises unique aged beers, and we have a bit of a thing for sour beer.

On tap at Strange Fellows, pours a clear pale golden with a small white head. Aroma brings out bitter pine, grapefruit rind, and crisp biscuity malt. Flavour is quite bitter, with plenty of piney hop bitterness, some metallic character, and dry biscuity malt. The structure of Strange Fellows’ westies is usually good, but the hop expression is usually dull, as this is. Not sure if this is a hop freshness thing, or something else. Either way, balanced, but not particularly intriguing.

On tap at Strange Fellows, pours a hazy pale golden blonde with a small white head. Aroma has plenty of lime upfront, with a touch of pineapple, thankfully no yogurt. Flavour is bursting with bright lime, a touch of coconut, gentle pineapple, and gentle acidity. Simple but the adjuncts are nicely attenuated, and there’s no typical yogurty character. Good for a kettle sour.

On tap at Strange Fellows, pours a cloudy yellow with a small white head. Aroma has some pithy stone fruits, light tropical notes, a touch of hopburn. Flavour is bright, with ample bitterness for a hazy and minimal hopburn, just a nice tropical character with some citrusy bitterness. Pretty solid.

Slight haze, bubbly head, quite fruity, stone fruit, low bitterness and the malt is muddled. It’s a touch sticky so for me it’s a ferm thing.

473mL can. Pours a murky yellow-gold with a white head. Pulpy orange juice and fresh grass on the nose. Flavour is very pulpy and pithy, lots of orange juice and fresh grass. Quite an unpleasant hazy.

On tap at Strange Fellows. Pours clear blonde with a white head. Rustic saison yeast and gentle citrus peels on the nose. Flavour has a moderately dry and spicy saison yeast expression, slightly floral, some citrus notes. Nice, nothing exceptional, but a well-made saison.

Flavour is crisp and dry, with a clean, rustic saison yeast expression, light spiciness, and crisp biscuity base. Crisp, spicy, and dry, though not particularly complex. Pleasant.
