Description
Hi, we’re Van Moll. We’re crazy about beer, which is why we brew it. In 2013 we opened a brew pub in the heart of Eindhoven – our very own flavour lab where everyone can sample our creations. Best idea ever!
We try to delight daily with exciting new tastes and flavours. We experiment and balance, treading the fine line between bold and brazen, without going over the top. A fixed selection of core beers and a varied range of exceptional specials.
Once you’ve mastered the basics, that’s when the adventure really starts. We mix tradition and knowledge with a dash of confidence and cockiness to brew up the perfect party. And that’s exactly what it is: a party for the palate for all who dare.
Grote batches worden gebrouwen bij Lighttown Brewers, waar van Moll deel van uitmaakt.

Tap. Hazy golden color with white head. Aroma is estery, fruity, nicely jammy, a bit sweet. Taste is the same, pretty sweetish, but not bad. Jammy mouthfeel, natural carbonation. Nice one!

Bottle. Color: Slightly hazy red copper, beige head. Aroma: Sweetish, rye, caramel, vinous hints. Taste: Sweetish, caramel, toffee, spicy rye notes, wood, subtle red wine notes, hints of vanilla. Over moderate sweet, moderate bitterness. Just over medium body, just under average carbonation. Bit boozy. Dry. Bit sticky. Ok, but I was hoping for some more BA effects.

Almost opaque dark brown beer, small bubbly pale tan head. Smooth palate, a very light viscosity, reasonable fine carbonation. Whenever I see the Black Barleywine label bandied about, I expect to find some Impy masquerading as a Barleywine. Happily no such frustrations here. There is a trace of chocolate in here but it's a barleywine through and through and one that only exists to deliver it's rather splendid barrelling. Smooth malts, a nice level of creamy sweetness and just a touch of caramel. Big bourbon but so smooth and rounded and ripe fruity as well. Next to no alcohol spice or heat. A little soft vanilla oakiness is the cherry on this sumptuous cake. Yeah, it's not the most complex of barleywines but what it delivers it delivers in spades.
