Description
Yvan DE BAETS and Bernard LEBOUCQ meet each other in 2002, during the second edition of the Zinnekparade. Bernard had created the now famous ZINNEBIR for this unique Brussels event. However, it took another five years for BRASSERIE DE LA SENNE to settle effectively in the capital. In the meantime, the brewing activities were continued at friendly breweries. This bohemian existence came to an end on December 22, 2010, the date of the very first 100% Brussels brew!

Draught at Kerstbierenfestival 2005, Essen, Belgium
Creamy white, lightly brown head. Murky, brown body. Subtle aroma of toasted malts, white wine. Lightly bitter flavour. A nice Christmas beer which isn’t too strong in contrast of most of the Christmas beers. But it neither is very spectacular.

Lightly hazy blond to amber ale with a creamy white head, lacing. Very bready malt aroma with light coriander notes. Nice whiskey malt in mouth, with good hops and more pronounced coriander. Nice creamy body, medium. Bottle at Poechenellekelder, April 2005, 3.3 euros.

Bottled. Cloudy amber. Sweet and mild with rounded creamy mouthfeel and medium body. Flavours are very subtle, including caramel and yeast. At best it feels soothing.

An unclear orange beer with a white head. Both the aroma and flavor are sweet yeasty combined with notes of fruits and caramel.

Dark hazy beer; good yellowish rim. Dark malts, roasted, chocolate, some leafy notes in the nose. Roasted malts in the taste as well, bit of pine needle flavour; some dark caramel. Medium bodied, longlasting roasted aftertaste. OK, promessing. If one starts lagering this, I expect a winner.

Amber-orange, clear (with very bottle-sticking yeast); quite stable, off-white head. Very "beery" nose: malt, some hops - the smell that greets one upon entering a (not-too-smokey) pub. Faint citruspeel. Strange, dry, sweet-bitter taste, with a not exactly welcoming flavour of human sweat. Some ambrée malt is obvious, and a slight spicey touch. At 5.5%, obviously not very dense, but very dry - I suspect a very high attenuation. Technically impressive, but I miss some character here. Again, for a first try much better than "succeeded". Retasted draught at Karakterbierfestival 06/2005 Much more hopbitter, making it outstanding - would score 8/10 for flavour, and 17/20 overall. Very strangely, ’sweat’ impression is there still, but the hops make it palatable.
