Bottle. Dram Shop, Sheffield. Very dark, ruby red. Thin, dense, lasting, lacing, beige head. Nose has dark chocolate malts. Hint of coffee bean. Lots of Vimto like fruitiness. Behind that a hint of treacle and soft smoke. Taste has a soft, treacle sweetness. Light, ashy bitter. Smooth mouthfeel. Soft fizz. Quite silky, really. Soft, fruity bitter finish. Really good. Hopped up Porter rather than BIPA, mind.

Bottle. Dram Shop, Sheffield. Clear, dark red. No head, bar a hair’s breadth of tan. Nose has clove and cinnamon. Banana esters. Steeped vine fruits. Some treacle. Some liquorice. Taste is fruity sweet, with an estery dryness. Light body. Doesn’t feel 8%. Fairly smooth. More fruity esters on the finish. Decent, although a bit heavy on the spices for me.

Bottle. Beer Central, Sheffield. Opaque, pale gold. Thin, dense, lasting, white head. Nose has yeasty, pale bread. Baked rhubarb. Some gingery spice. Bit of a barnyard thing. Damp leaves, and the like. Smells interesting! Taste is mostly dry, with a light tartness. Hint of sweet up front, that doesn’t linger. Light body. Thin mouthfeel. Short, slightly tart, and dry finish.

Bottle. Beer Central, Sheffield. Hazy amber. Huge, fat bubbled, lively, off white head. Nose has tart, unripe vine fruit. Brown sugar. Cut grass. Some banana esters. Taste is tangy, slightly sour, vinous bitter. Turns pretty dry, in an estery, boozy way. Mouthfeel has some acidity, and is way too fizzy. It’s really quite tart and tangy. Finish is more of the same, and renders the beer a bit hard work. Maybe with plenty of age on it, it’ll smooth out, but as it is, this isn’t great.

Bottle. Walkley Beer Co., Sheffield. Slow gusher. Hazy amber colour. All the sediment ends up in the glass, wanted or not. Thick, foamy, yeast ridden, pale beige head. Nose has toasted malts. White chocolate. Some peanut. Some vanilla bean and milk chocolate. Taste is fruity, malty sweet. Thin, watery mouthfeel, not helped by the over carbonation. Finishes thin, light sweet, with a fruity, tangy bitter close. Smells ok, but I can’t imagine the brewer fully intended this!

Bottle. Dram Shop, Sheffield. 7.8%. Very dark brown. Thick, bubbly, lasting, pale tan head. Nose has treacle toffee. 60% cocoa chocolate. Stone fruit. Some coconut. Light smoke, says the missus. Hint of coffee. Taste is soft, smoky sweet. Light, woody bitterness. Super smooth mouthfeel, albeit a bit over carbonated prior to it settling down. Soft, sweet, smoky bitter finish. Lovely. I’ll be sad to see this brewer downsize, before he really got going.

Bottle. Dram Shop, Sheffield. Orange gold. Light haze. Film and halo of white head. Nose has creamy malts. Spicy hop. Some pineapple skin. Some overripe orange. Bit of bubblegum. Decent, albeit muted. Taste is soft sweet. Some fruity, juicy bitterness. Nice palate. Drinks under the ABV. Touch of chew, to no detriment. Finishes juicy sweet, with a fruity, pulpy, zesty bitter close. More hop on the nose, and this is a blinder. As it is, it’s still pretty good. This brewer knows their stuff.
