Almost black with a cm of light tan head that lasts pretty well. Aroma of mild roast, earth and lots of fruit - peach, orange, grapefruit. A little lighter bodied than guessed. Clean with roast and coffee tinged light bread. Just lacks a little presence there. Peach, grapefruit and some light herbal notes are there - some of the gentler citrus gets a bit lost. Medium high bitterness - appropriately enough - oozes out of the dank at the end.

Sunken Bounty is in some respects not an enticing image. Widgetless nitro can - black with a 3/2 inch beige head. Aroma of freshly grated coconut, some chocolate, perhaps some vanilla. Sweet, bland and merely flavoured before a distracting weedy bitterness. Not for me.

355ml can into schooner glass. From South Melbourne markets. Hazy golden amber beer with a glorious dome of white foam on top. Lots of tiny bubbles. Sweet fruity nose, touch of spice. Full body, smooth mouthfeel. Nice lacing. Caramel and fruit leads to a little balancing bitterness. Finish is complex with fruit salad, caramel and lingering liquorice. Very nice ale, unctuous and rich.

Sailor’s Grave Sake Kasu & Satsuma Plum 4.6% Orange with a pink tinge, fizzy foam and a fragrant floral and plum aroma. Medium bodied and very tart. Refreshing in this crazy heat. Time for another shower.

Can. Slightly hazy yellowish orange with a good inch of white head. The aroma is reminiscent - nectarines, crackers, more Meyer lemon than the orange of the original, some grassy and teeny tropical notes. Dry, fruity and bitter with the pungency of citrus sitting with a nicely creamy texture. Really really really impressive.

Can. Golden amber with a loose white head that sticks around a little while. Complex citrus aroma with fresh and grilled grapefruit, orange, blossoms, slightly earthy funk, spices. Bittersweet with browned grapefruit peel, bread, mild funk, gentle spices. Finish is bitter and dryish. Quaffable with some intrigue is what I'm looking for.

Full bodies a day very tart. Aromas of pear, pepper biscuit and tea make for a lovely start. Lots of sour pear in the mouth with quite a dry finish. Serve very cold on a hot day.

Looking for something to go with leftover curry I turned up this: Sailor’s Grave The Boneyard Umami Ale 5% Reddish brown with a crazy thick beige foam that doesn’t linger. This was a surprising gusher. Malty biscuit with peppery rye notes in the aroma. Full bodied with that meaty broth merging surprisingly well with the rye and caramel biscuit malt notes. Very much meaty but malty. Pretty good and goes well with the curry.

Fresh/wet hop beer so figured I’d drink it first! Sailors Grave In the Rip 4.5% Wet Hop Belgian Pale Ale Matte brass with dense foam that has huge bubbles. Nice fragrant lemongrass herbal hop bouquet with soft white pepper Belgian spice. Medium bodied with a crisp finish, effervescent brew with sharp Belgian spice notes and soft hop elements. Reminds me of some KBC brews I’ve had.
