Can. Murky brownish orange with a loose white head. Aroma of an unkempt flowering and budding orchard - fruity and floral and a little medicinal. Light bodied, very alive feeling. Dryish, slightly tart. Some strawberry sweetness and medicinal herbal tonic notes before a gripping note at the end that might be the acidity of the rhubarb. Another one of those Sailors Grave beers that is nothing like anything I've had before.

On tap at Bitter Phew. Pours hazy pale gold with a white head. Yeast, spice, funk, honey, oak notes, interesting.

From a 440ml can on 10/7/2024. Bought primarily because it's the first Twin Peaks themed beer I've ever encountered (is the good Cooper still trapped in the Black Lodge?). Pours deep brown/black with a smallish head. Has a mild dark chocolate roasty nose. Tastes of bitter dark chocolate, roasted malt, with some nuttiness. Medium to firm slightly roasty and burnt bitterness. Fullish body with average carbonation. I have to admit that I have a strong pref for dessert stouts but this is really well put together for something that's not usually in my sights.

Could have sworn I'd rated this here. Copied across from 4 checkins at the Other Place: [Jan24]] Intriguing aroma of bitter chocolate, walnut skin, baked apricot. Surprisingly dry with firm roast, bitter chocolate, some nuts and baked apricot. Bitter finish. Surprisingly warming at the end. Really good. [Feb 24] So many ways to achieve balance - here, it's bitter chocolate, walnuts and apricot kernels. An always interesting brewery. [April 24] Hope they make this a regular - rich but with a bitter nut as well as hop finish. Elegant and interesting. [Jun 24] Nutty bitterness and not oversweet chocolate and fruit make an interesting balance here. Engaging, rich but not heavy.

Can. Very dark brown w a good cm of light tan head that lasts well. Lots of chocolate in the brioche aroma, some coffee and light spices. Smooth texture - you'd guess oats - with chocolate that's not all that sweet before a mainly roasted(?) bitter finish. They seem to think a lot about balance and it shows.

An intriguing beer, not super tart, plummy with some slight rum barrel notes maybe hiding the funk and tartness, more on the nose than in the mouth.

Can. Clear deep gold with a fluffy inch of white head that collapses a bit. Hayish aroma with subtle Autumnal toasty and nutty notes. So it tastes. A drying woody element to the creepingly bitter finish.

Very pretty bottle. Caged with a long cork. Dark brown. A light tan head retreats to the rim but persists there. Aroma of mildly funky apples and their skins, brioche, mocha. Somewhat earthy. Spritzy. Hard to say whether it's slightly tart or not (but no). Tannin & bitterness that builds a bit at the end. Yeasty brioche. Some brine w the roast. Glamorous. Deep & intriguing with fine balance. V expensive, but there is an element of trust.

A blonde Gose with a thin lacing white head. In aroma, nice fruity malt with light lactic notes, faint grapeskins, light cork, pleasant. In mouth, smooth lactic gose with light musty character, light mineral notes, pleasant. On tap at Smith Street Taps, sg.
