A wonderful melange of grapefruit, orange, caramel fudge, cola, coriander and cumin greet you, then you get a pop of spices in the mouth, followed by loads of hops and caramel that’s more toffee-ish, with a slight burnt aftertaste. A great achievement. Bottle from Blackhearts and Sparrows Brunswick.

A very smooth, easy drinking IPA with a nice balance between hops and malts. The aromas include pine, resin, sawdust and nougat with some grapefruit and the flavours are similar. The palate is nicely balanced though concentrated down the middle of the tongue. The alcohol is pretty well hidden, but it leaves a nice warmth in the back of the throat.

Bottle. Clear gold with a coat of white head. Aroma is grainyand faintly earthy with cloves, some banana, some booze. Not all that appealing, but smoother on the palate and the flavours are better integrated than the aroma suggests. It’s moderately sweet with grain and sweet dough, oranges, apricots, moderately spicy and bitter finish.

Draft at Taps Beer Bar, Changkat, Kuala Lumpur. Poured a hazy medium amber with a frothy white head and a little broken lace. The flavour is moderate to light bitter with a fresh grassy hop citrus, light yeast, light pine needle palate. Medium bodied with average carbonation. Super fresh and tasty.

Pours copper with a large head.Nose shows toasty/bready melanoidin notes, caramel, green apple and sultanas.Flavours include sweet nutty, bready and toasty malt followed by a bit of a dried fruit note.Carbonation is aggressive for this rich a beer.

Bottle. Clear copper with a large off white head that never disappears. Rambunctious hoppy aroma with passionfruit, kumquat, pine, sticky bread crusts and I guess is this what people refer to as diesel, possibly because it’s in test mode. Sweet with toffee, bread, stone, tropical and sweet citrus fruit. The toppy/ zesty notes don’t cut through quite as well but it’s oozily hoppy. Bitter, mildly peppery finish. Might turn quite syrupy fairly quickly, but it’s fun now.

From a 330ml bottle on 3/10/2015. Pours a dark amber with a big head which disappears quickly. Has a relatively strong malty flavour with a hint of fruit. The flavours include caramel, toffee, chocolate, sweet dark and dried fruit, a touch of spice and the barest hint of booze. Has a fullish body and quite lively carbonation. A quite impressive, very enjoyable brew.

frothy white. Fairly hoppy nose with light wheat notes. Very light body with moderately aggressive hop character. Much more of a white ipa, but doesn’t particularly have any special character. A bit grassy. Hops just sit at the finish and linger. Oddly found it a bit boozy. Pretty good, but not outstanding.

Draught at Tippler’s Tap, Brisbane on 6th September 2015. Carmine red with almost white shallow foam top and spot lacing. Rich and intense fresh cherry aroma. Sour cherry and citrus in-mouth. Citric lemon finish. Zingy mouthfeel and light body. Rated as a novelty ale. Loved it.

From a 330ml bottle on 18/8/2015. Pours very dark brown with a medium head. The aroma is malty with lots of chocolate, some caramel, and some basement notes. Taste wise, it’s very chocolatey, with a touch of brown sugar and licorice. While nice and sweet, it has a decent balancing roasty bitterness. Medium bodied with average carbonation. A quite tasty, pleasant Baltic porter.
