2011-07-30, draught at Cardero’s Restaurant, Vancouver, 5-3-5-2-9=24
Amber color, light aroma and watery flavor, with a breadish impression and low bitterness. Boring.

2010-03-16, draught at Big Ridge, Surrey, BC, 4-3-5-2-9=23
Light amber color; creamy head. The aroma is too light. The flavor, even if light, carries some caramel; dry mouthfeel, strong bitterness, a bit metallic in the end. Forgettable.

2008-07-16, bottle, 5-3-6-2-11= 27
Amber color. A very plain Ale, some caramel flavor, ordinary bitterness, no special hops. Regular.

On tap at Stella’s Tap and Tapas Bar, Vancouver. Chestnut with thin beige head. Some toffee and hop on aroma, bit of butter. Too cold again, but I am sure I will get used to it. More caramel and butter in mouth. Reminded me of a Czech cerne. Too carbonated/too cold. But has some drinkability.

No Josh, lets not get carried away with self importance. I wouldn’t imagine they did it just to piss you off, they probably could care less what any of us actually think. Amber, small head. An odd faint spice nose. Nothing in the palate but a bit of malt, certainly no hops.

Bright copper colour. Vague tin, caramel and fuggle aroma. Ooooo, now that’s original. Equally enthralling flavour. Devoid of bitterness. Some caramel and earth. 100% derivative beer that offers nothing to the drinker and nothing to the beer scene at large. A kick in the nads to the long-suffering BC beer lover. Nobody could possibly confuse this with even a light interpretation of the IPA style, so why do they even bother putting that on the label? Just to piss me off, I suspect.

Bottle: Poured a light copper ale with a small foamy head with good retention. Aroma of English hops with very subtle caramel malt. Taste of malt is a bit too subtle but medium presence of English hops save this from being dreadful. By no mean is this great but I had way worse then this beer.

Golden ale with a white head. Light non-descript malty aroma. Boring lager taste, chalky notes and light watery bodied.

Bright golden brown colour. Light malty aroma. Light palate. I’ve had this better before - like 2 weeks ago when it was fresh and nutty tasting - but OK Spring’s beers don’t hold up well apparently. Very fresh, both this and the 1516 seem fine, tasty even. The trick is getting them fresh. If you don’t win that gamble, this is what you get.

Golden-straw colour with haze. Bready malt aroma. Zippy carbonation. The palate shows some hop crispness, with bread notes. Nothing too special. Slightly fruity notes in the finish. Kind of dull for a helles.
