Pours very dark brown, looks dark brown to black in the glass. Quite good intensity in the aroma, especially per style: maltiness with roasted malts notes of coffee and lighter chocolate, also a bit of ashy character, a not too timid dry floral/earthy hops suggestion. Taste notes follow the aroma closely. A bit of sweet malty base, perhaps with a hint of toffee, but very restrained per style with bitter/roasted notes (again slightly ashy) taking a bit of edge. A quite dry (again, especially per sytle), bitter edging finish, with floral hops notes. Quite light in body, low to medium, relatively fizzy carbonation; pretty lively carbo for a mild, a quite easy mouthfeel on the overall, but lacking the smoothness/softness i'd expect. So: perhaps this could have scored a tad higher if it was labeled as a stout/porter, because that's what it is (and i'd say an ok/average one).

pours dark brown with a fine drak brown smooth small lasting head.
surprisingly mild aroma, only hints of booze and hints of roasted malts. strongest notes are the kind of notes you get when barrelling too long, sort of glue like.
flavor is dry hard roasted malts, charred wood (but not smoked malts) nice faint touch from the brandy. flavor is a bit delicate and subdued but truly very very nice roasted malty with the other flavors just enhancing the experience. the wood is easy to detect with the charred woody note being the strongest tell. end is roasted malty and charred woody. Very good flavor. Totally unlike the very boring aroma.

very dark brown, with a very light brown head
aroma of peated malt whiskey, booze, moderate roasted malts. wood.
flavor is whiskey, peat smoked malts, roasted malts, honey or syrup, woody notes, i think smoked malts. a bit rough around the edges and the booze sort of got the upper hand on the roasted malts.

Hand pulled pint at the Pheasant Inn & Brewhouse on 26th September 2025. Hint of a haze in the golden body, white crown. Citrus front with a resinous undertone, some decent malt action in there too, nice, hop forward IPA with a bready malty base.
