Description
The people behind Pale Fire Brewing Co. love the moment creativity is sparked and the fact that there is generally a great beer close by. The big idea, scribbled first on a bar napkin. Friends noodling around guitars, who suddenly realize they’ve hit on something great. Stories, told around a campfire, when nobody has a clue what time it is. Great beer is there.
In 2013, a space in a renovated Ice House in downtown Harrisonburg became available. It was perfect; the wheels were in motion. Pale Fire Brewing Co. opened in April 2015.
Pale Fire beer is currently distributed in Virginia by Virginia Eagle in Harrisonburg, Blacksburg, Lynchburg, Charlottesville, Winchester and Northern Virginia; and also by Specialty Beverage in Richmond, Roanoke, and Tidewater. You can also find Pale Fire beer in Washington, D.C. and Maryland, distributed by Legends Limited. Our beer is available in 1/6 barrel and 1/2 barrel kegs, 12oz bottles, and small runs of 16oz cans.
Visit our Tap Room, which is open daily at 1pm.

Tap at brewery. Pours golden with a white head. Aroma is cat piss, wet sponge, pine, light citrus. Flavor is near the same as the nose. More citrus, especially in the finish. Slightly juicy, more wet sponge and pine however. Hop hop hop hop.

Draft taproom. Pours reddish brown, kinda cola like. Aroma is lightly sour but also slightly smoked. Almost like roasted sunflower seeds. Flavor is fruity, barnyard funk, glue, bread, light licorice. This is different.

16 oz can from Growlers to Go - Short Pump. Pours a murky golden-orange with a nice, fizzy head. Not much on the way of lace. Has a big hop aroma, grapefruit and orange, some melon and mago notes as well. A bit of a pine note. Some dough / oat backbone. A bit of a fruity sweetness up-front, with a nice bitterness on the close. Clean, fairly dry finish. Nice mouthfeel. A very solid IPA.

Hazy golden and pale straw coloured body with a thinnish, two centimetre tall pure white head that shows some movement from below. Aroma of grass, lemons, citrus, hay, light grain and a touch of mild hop bitterness. Light-bodied; Very grassy and herbal flavours showing at first with some floral and light hop characteristics along with some pale sweetness and a bit of hay coming through near the end. Aftertaste shows a mild funky flavour from the yeast and a very dry flavour profile throughout. Overall, a mellow and pale beer with some nice dry flavours, but nothing too exciting or new here. I sampled this 50 cL can purchased from Crystal City Wine Shop (20th Street Location) in Crystal City (Arlington), Virginia on 06-January-2017 for US$4,13 sampled at home in Washington a few blocks away on 15-April-2017.
