Bottle. It pours a lightly hazed yellow color with a white head. The aroma has a lot of chardonnay, oak, vanilla funk, hints of lemon, pineapple and graham cracker. The flavor has some spicy yeast, vanilla, chardonnay, and mild passionfruit-like tartness. Heavy funk and spicy yeast. Low sourness, but definitely tart. Frothy mouthfeel. Nice.

Pale yellow color. Fairly cloudy. Medium-small white head. A bit fizzy. The aroma is quite good. Big chardonnay barrel on top of sweet fruity brett flavors. Solid fresh saison base to it all. Light lemon, grape, sweet apricot. Delicate malt sweetness. Taste doesn’t live up to the aroma. It’s a bit too sweet with too much barrel character. The barrel shows a buttery chardonnay flavor and too much oaky bitterness. Body is a bit heavy, particularly for 5.3% abv. Fruit flavors seem flabby in comparison to the aroma. Odd creaminess, which doesn’t work somehow. There’s something just not quite right, and it’s unfortunate after the aroma promised so much.

Bottle. Pours clear straw, small white head, creamy with nice residual and lacing. Aroma is bretty, dusty, tropical fruits. Flavor is dry, lightly funky, Bretty and tropical fruit notes, dusty, hints of bandaid, but honestly not really distracting. Light body, soft carbonation. Does not quite gel, but this is a much better beer than the ratings its getting, or else there is a shit ton of bottle variation. Edit; reading the reviews there must be a ton of bottle variation. This beer is not tart at all; just funky and juicy with obvious mosaic hopping.

Poured from a bottle. Aroma is fruity with a green apple joy rancher character to it. Some pear and stone fruit as well with a bit of citrus and tropical fruit. Light peppery phenolic notes with a light grain character as well. Pours a hazy, pale, yellow gold with a medium sized, moderately thick, white head that recedes to the edges and lingers. Flavor has a light acidity with a bit of a grain note upfront that lingers into the finish. Medium light pear and green apple notes with a bit of tropical fruit and citrus. Moderate phenolic notes with a spiciness that lingers into the dry finish. Medium bitterness. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with medium carbonation. Low astringency and low alcohol warmth. Overall, an alright beer. More green apple and pear in the aroma than flavor with more phenolics in the flavor than in the aroma. Not sure if green apple was intended or if it is acetaldehyde.

Poured from a bottle. Aroma is very Brett forward with some light grain notes. Medium poopiness. Some light citrus and moderate tropical fruit notes with mango and white wine character. Medium light herbal and grassy phenolic notes. Pours a fairly clear, rather pale yellow color with a medium sized, thick rocky white head that recedes to a thin film that lingers. No lacing or legs. Flavor has a light acidity to it with light citrus notes. Moderate pineapple, mango, white wine and other fruit notes. Light notes of the poop that was in the aroma. Moderate phenolic note with a grassy, herbal character. Low bitterness which thankfully doesn’t clash with the phenolics. Mouthfeel is light bodied with medium high carbonation. Low astringency and low alcohol warmth. Overall, not a great beer. I like the fruit character but the poopy and phenolic notes aren’t great. Hop character is nice, but it’s hidden by the phenolics and poop.

Five out of an five for Fela kuti Props. Hope this wasn’t Expensive Shit. Unfortunately as excited as I was to drink this, there’s a big soapy flavor here. Bitter and boozy finish. Shared at tasting.
