Description
INNOVATION + CREATIVITY
Prairie Artisan Ales is small third wave brewery from Oklahoma. Since our founding in 2012, we have brought a unique perspective to brewing. Sometimes that means big bold barrel aged stouts and other times it means super crisp and funky farmhouse ales. Every beer we brew is wrapped in unique, expressive, and interesting art. The experience is unlike any other you can find in beer.

12 oz. bottle, pours jet black with lots of coconut resting on top with a small head. Aroma is dominated by intense coconut upfront, followed by deep almond, some Oreo cookie, and soft barrels in back. Flavour is very dessert-like and intense, with huge coconut upfront, followed by almost-as-intense almond, chocolate cookies, and soft bourbon barrel to round things out. Sweet but not cloying coconut, almond and chocolate bomb in that order. Can’t really say this is complex; but the adjuncts are high-quality and extremely well-balanced, and there is enough malt to serve them all up. Very tasty BA pastry stout.

12 oz can. Aroma is chalky candy, Swedish Fish, pickle juice, floral. Pours hazy rosy golden with a half finger off-white head that collapses into a ring fairly quickly. Taste is moderately sour (7/10) and fairly sweet with flavors like the aroma descriptors. Chugably tasty.

Bottle stamped 10/23/2025.
Poured into a snifter.
Appearance: dark brown close to black in color with a fizzy head that didn't leave any lace but left small filmy to oily looking spots on top
Aroma: loads of boozy/bourbon coated peanuts with some vanilla to hazelnut-like sweet tones, light notes of milk chocolate intertwining nicely
Flavor: combines the prior noted aromas to a fine variety of different sweet qualities; finishes somewhat slick with some boozy heat
Texture: medium bodied; this is a sipper; not as smooth as I was hoping for as the boozy heat seems to allow some stickiness coating the tongue; though the carb seemed as far as I believe
Overall: either I didn't age this correctly or Prairie didn't execute this exactly correct. This isn't an awful beer - it's just not to the level of a good amount of their other impy pastry stouts.

Can from Beer Merchants Tap, Hackney Wick. Pale gold, obvious fizz but no head. Sherbet and orange up front; mild sourness. Sweet summer berries follow, especially raspberries. A hint of creaminess in the finish. Reminds me of those Refreshers sweets (do they still make those?) - except that this is actually nice. They've nailed this, nice one.

12 oz. bottle, pours black with a tiny head. Aroma is loaded with breakfast waffles—cinnamon, maple, pecan pie—with gentle bourbon barrel presence. Flavour is rich, with huge maple-covered waffles, cinnamon, pecan pie, and wonderful bourbon barrels. These adjuncts are not what I would normally gravitate towards, but their net effect is wonderful: like bourbon waffles. Delicious.
