Description
Oxbow is a small farmhouse brewery located in rural Newcastle, Maine. The brewery is nestled in an enchanted forest amongst rolling farmlands and winding tidal rivers, of which the ebb and flow provide a constant reminder that the coast is near.
The name Oxbow is inspired by the bends in these rivers, the Dyer in particular, which features stunning horseshoe-shaped oxbows where the river covers tremendous ground to travel what could otherwise be a very short linear distance. We employ a similar approach when crafting our beers, taking months or years to create a beverage that is commonly produced in a matter of days.

Bottle shared by Marcus. Pours copper with an off-white head. Aroma is light, light sour, and mild fruit, and bourbon. Sort of comes out like calvados. Med body, almost. Flavor is hint of bourbon, but it still reminds of calvados. Nice, tasty. So flavor is kind of apple fruit and mild bourbon.

500 ml bottle share by both T.J and Brian for T.Jβs # 200! Dark ruby pour with almost no head. Aroma is Apple wine, wood, light roast.
The body is medium but nearly watery and oily, viscosity is super slick, can even see it as I swirl the taster. The alcohol is slightly noticeable with a flat carbonation level. The stout base is flawed. Almost more like a strong ale or double brown. Could really use more roasted malts. Well, they all canβt be home runs ....

Poured from 500 ml bottle, my 200th rate. Black with little or no head. Aromas of sweet apples and sugar. Taste is good with hints of chocolate but is lacking in the stout character which is flat and watered down. Not what I was expecting.

Bottle thanks to JBPortland! Pours hazy orange amber with a medium tan head that dissipates fairly quickly leaving good lacing. Aroma is caramel, light smoke, oak, light funk. Flavor is light plus tart, lightly but noticeably smoky, a hint of funk, oak, lemon and grass notes. Medium body, fairly high carbonation. Interesting beer.
