Description
Oxbow is a small farmhouse brewery located in rural Newcastle, Maine. The brewery is nestled in an enchanted forest amongst rolling farmlands and winding tidal rivers, of which the ebb and flow provide a constant reminder that the coast is near.
The name Oxbow is inspired by the bends in these rivers, the Dyer in particular, which features stunning horseshoe-shaped oxbows where the river covers tremendous ground to travel what could otherwise be a very short linear distance. We employ a similar approach when crafting our beers, taking months or years to create a beverage that is commonly produced in a matter of days.

On tap at Goods from the Woods 2014 with Festero. Light dry lightly fruity earthy saison. I tried this later in the day and I’m afraid it didn’t get the chance it should have.

On tap at Goods from the Woods 2014 with Festero. Not sure why they would confuse us with a name like oxtoberfest, Marzen this is not. Smokey light malty sweetness hints of floral spicy hops and a rustic earthy funk. Nice brew with a bit of a confounding moniker.

On tap at Goods from the Woods 2014 with Festero. The spelt gives this a cereal almost cheerios character which worked quite well with the yeasty esters. Light refreshing brew that I quite enjoyed.

Draft at When Pigs Fly. Clear yellow pour with thin head. Aroma is straw, grassy hops and a mild funk.

Flavor starts with straw and a trace of funk. The brew finishes with grassy and yeast. Very low bitterness with a nice effervescent mouthfeel. Mild citrus tones in a medium body. Crisp, dry texture. Very nice stuff.
