Description
Oxbow is a small farmhouse brewery located in rural Newcastle, Maine. The brewery is nestled in an enchanted forest amongst rolling farmlands and winding tidal rivers, of which the ebb and flow provide a constant reminder that the coast is near.
The name Oxbow is inspired by the bends in these rivers, the Dyer in particular, which features stunning horseshoe-shaped oxbows where the river covers tremendous ground to travel what could otherwise be a very short linear distance. We employ a similar approach when crafting our beers, taking months or years to create a beverage that is commonly produced in a matter of days.

Poured a clear golden color with a medium sized white head. Aroma was crisp malts, grassy. Really dig Italian Pils, whatever they are. Grassy, with some dry notes, clean finish.

10/26/19 Bottle pour @ Glorietta Baldy. Stemmed wine glass, the glow of Star Trek pinball, a random mix of 70s funk from the speakers, it works. Opaque, my favorite word from 2015. Obvious honey-colored brew. Wish-washy, faltering head. Smell is herbal, wildflower, pre-ferment honey botanicals. Maybe a little back sweetened for the bottle? Doesn't matter, it's a plus. Big lime & a scratchy mineral note. Taste is bold with lime, honey & tannins, like cold, medicinal tea. Scratchy, barely there malt. This is my flavor. Something like fermented orange juice, but cleaner, this adds a bigger citrus note. It all amounts to a solid twang that calls in for everyone to dive in. Not quite thick, very well carbonated bottle pour. ABV is almost irrelevant. Love this.

Grapefruit, passionfruit. Pours hazy orange with good head and lacing. Light tart finish. OK, not a lot of character here. Don't get a ton of rhubarb. Shared at tasting.

500mL bottled 112/21/22, whatever that means. Drunk 2/22/24. Clear, bright blonde-brass with a copper tinge. Small head quickly to edge. Oh yeah, nose has a lovely mix of Brett, light lactic acidity and just enough mango without overdoing it. Fruity, vivacious, good bit of maltiness. Funky and gentle on the oak. Light, easygoing, good Brett, good mild oak and lactic, but a super-attenuated body with very, very thin malt character. Water and seltzer finish. Disappointing.

Bottle pour. Clear dark yellow color with a medium sized white head pour. Aroma was light sweetness, some honey, a bit of wine. Flavor was slightly tart, some fruity candy - solidfunk was right, tastes a bit like smarties.

It pours a slightly hazy very pale gold with an inch of foam, from Beer Drop, canned July 28th 2023.
The smell is cloves, coriander, Belgian spices, somewhat earthy.
The taste is light spicing compared to the smell. Cloves, wheat, Belgian spices, light hints of tartness, sweetish honey throughout. Pretty good.
Rather light bodied, it does get thin in the finish.
Overall, a good rep of the style.
