Raspberry, sour milk, wheat malt, and straw aroma. Cloudy reddish amber with large light tan head. Mildly sweet raspberry, wheat malt, and mildly bitter straw flavor. Good body. Nice fruity flavor with minimal sweetness.

Farily clear deep copper, bronze and amber coloured body with a thinnish, very fast-dying tan head that starts off at about a centimetre tall and fades quickly to just about nothing. Aroma of tart and soured malts with some bread, yeast, alcohol and deep funkiness with a light dose of dry grain and nutty notes and flavours with some soft sweetness towards the end with a caramel and toffee bite towards the finish. Medium to Full-bodied; Strong funky and deep rich and pungent astringent malt note with grain, wood, earth, toffee and caramelised sugars, all with a deep bite and strength that really come through near the end with an alcohol and assertive bitterness from some high alpha acid hops. Aftertaste is deep, strong, grainy, earthy, dry, malty and pungent with a lot of alcohol and bread noticeable (perhaps around 8 or 9 per cent) with some soft bite from caramel near the end. Overall, a strong and pungent beer with a lot of grain, dry malts, funky earthiness, some nuts and a dry bite with alcohol and astringency. Overall, a strong and deep beer with some noticeable and pungent yeast notes, but a little less predictable compared to other tripels with more astringency, grain, dryness than others in the style and less sweetness, less complexity, less range and less rounded flavours that usually come from the style, at least in Belgium! I sampled this twelve ounce can, purchased from Hy-Vee in Omaha (Papillion), Nebraska on 06-November-2018 for US$2,99 sampled at my house here in Washington on 16-January-2021.

Pour is a dark brown with a small white head. Aroma is some toasted malt and some roasted nuts. Not a big aroma. Flavor is more roasted nuts but a weird maple syrup sweetness. KInds of tastes artificial like the maple flavor in instant oatmeal. Good for a sample only.

While I've had this many times at the brewpub, this is my first rating for this - from a can, back at home. Deep dark brown coloured body with a thinnish, very fast-dying tan and light-brown head that starts at about 3 to 4 centimetres tall that fades to just one, a few seconds later. Aroma of coffee, vanilla (of course on both fronts), alcohol, nuts, roasted malt, peat, lactose, cream and a heavy hit of toffee and caramelised sugars - quite strong in the nose in a good way - complexity abound. Light to Medium-bodied; Strong malty notes dominate with a bunch of coffee, earth, nuts and especially vanilla and pastry notes with a lot of the cream still outstanding, a tiny bit of unfinished sugars from lactose and a dry, very earthy and pungent grainy bite, especially near the end. Aftertaste is robust - bitter from the coffee (especially) and the chocolate notes, but also showing a lot of earthiness and pungent cream, lactose, vanilla and anise spice, this is very complex and full-of-flavour, especially for the alcohol content. Overall, a very nice offering, especially for the style and in the city, this is one that is definitely worth trying (or buying and taking it to your home, like I did!) while in Omaha. I sampled this twelve ounce can, purchased from Hy-Vee in Omaha (Papillion), Nebraska on 21-January-2020 for US$1,99 sampled at home in Washington on 12-May-2020 on probably the last slightly chilly night of the season here in Washington, sadly.

Crystal clear, but super deep amber coloured body with a strong copper glow and a thinnish, single centimetre tall, just off-white, but rather large bubbled head. Aroma of alcohol, bitter malts, toffee, caramelised sugars with bunches of peanuts and pecans and a dose of light flowers near the end. Light to Medium-bodied; Strong nutty and malt body shows up at first with a dose of caramel, toffee, earth and some lightly bitter oaky and dry grainy notes hit towards the end, but the caramelised sugar and enjoyable nuts dominate the profile. Aftertaste shows the nutty and earthy qualities of the malt with a lot of dry notes and oaky qualities that make this more pungent as a lager than you'd see with ale yeast. Overall, an enjoyable marzen with a good bite from the nuts and earth, but the caramelised sugar rounds out the flavour and the robustness in a good way. I sampled this twelve ounce can, purchased from Hy-Vee in Omaha (Papillion), Nebraska on 07-October-2019 for US$1,99 sampled just two weeks later on 20-October-2019 at home back in Washington.

Can from huskertan: pours dark brown with a beige head. Aroma is initially some vanilla coupled with what seemed to me to be a little stale coffee. Body was also surprisingly light and unsubstantial. Taste was sweet, sort of roasty, weak vanilla. All in all, I felt something was really missing.

Got in a trade with The-Adjunct-Hippie. 12 ounce can into lager glass, no can dating. Pours lightly hazy/cloudy pale golden straw color with a 1 finger fairly dense and fluffy off white head with great retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice spotty foamy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of big lightly tart limes, citrus peel/rind, cracker, white bread dough, lightly toasted biscuit, wood, peppercorn, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance of limes, pale malt, and earthy hop notes; with great strength. Taste of big lightly tart limes, citrus peel/rind, cracker, white bread dough, lightly toasted biscuit, wood, peppercorn, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness. Light-moderate pine, citrus peel/rind, herbal, woody, floral, grassy, peppery bitterness; and light lime tang/tartness on the finish. Lingering notes of tart limes, citrus peel/rind, cracker, white bread dough, lightly toasted biscuit, wood, peppercorn, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a short bit. Awesome robustness and balance of limes, pale malt, and earthy hop flavors; with a fantastic malt/bitterness balance, and no lingering hop astringency after the finish. Moderately crisp/clean finishing. Perfectly clean on lager flavors, with zero fruity/yeasty notes present. Moderate increasing dryness from lingering bitterness and carbonation. Medium-high carbonation and light-medium body; with a very smooth, moderately bready/grainy/sticky, and lightly acidic/resinous/rindy balanced mouthfeel that is fantastic. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 4.8%. Overall this is an outstanding fruited German pilsner. All around awesome robustness and balance of limes, pale malt, and earthy hop flavors; very smooth, crisp, clean, and refreshing to drink with the modestly bitter/drying finish; not aggressive. Very flavorful and not watery for the ABV. Perfectly balanced between vibrant limes, clean pils malts, and German noble hops. Zero residual sweetness with crisp dryness. A highly enjoyable offering, and amazing base style example. I don't think they could have done it any better. Extremely drinkable for the style.
