In late 2017, Clown Shoes joined Mass. Bay Brewing Company, makers of Harpoon and UFO. With the greater resources and capabilities, we have expanded our special release and barrel aging programs with over 25 one-off beers in 2018 alone. Clown Shoes continues to grow and innovate, while keeping our own personality and style to bring you interesting and unique beers.

12oz can at share. Black pour, robust beige head. Sweet aroma, molasses, brown sugar, rum. Taste adds roasty malts to the boozy sugary mix, plus a little chocolate. Sticky, boozy

I mostly like what Clown Shoes does with imperial stouts, less so with IPAs. So now I have this one to try after picking up a pint can at Mr. T's across town about a week ago. I put my Buffalo Bayou snifter in place to receive the pour. I see a semi-clear, medium gold body with a top of starch white of foam that mostly settles. The smell is all right in the style, pine, citrus and perhaps a bit of grain. The taste is also all right, pretty much in line with what IPAs used to be like. Hoppy without being a bomb, white bread, slightly dank, grass, citrus and the barest touch of sweetness. Not much to distinguish this one from many others but at least it is not deluged with orange taste.

GBBF Day 1. Cask. Sold as a Harpoon beer. Hazy tan gold beer, good bubbly cream colour head. Palate is light and semi dry, decent fine carbonation. Thin malts. Sweet enough. Piney ripe tropical fruits with a pleasant side serving of ripe citrus and candy fruits. Mild hop spice on the semi dry finish. Nice job.

Can from The Davis Beer Shoppe. Pours clear, very dark brown with a very large tan head that seemed foamy. Aroma of pie spice, chocolate, squash. Med plus body. Flavor is more or less the aroma. Plus dark burnt malt. Not dry, far from sticky. More spicey than bitter. Flavor is not at all harsh.
