courtesy of markwise. Pours copper, beige head. Aroma of coffee, grainy, malty. Flavor, light cofee with hints of grains, nutty palate. Nice torrefied coffee mouthfeel with a borderline chocolate presence followed by some faint bitterness. Tasty! Light in body with plenty of coffee.

Courtesy of kiefdog. Pours clear copper with thin off white head. The aroma is a mix of smooth coffee, earthiness, a dash of cherry and maybe some oak. The taste is much the same with sweet malts, caramel malts, coffee and more sweetness from here and there. It oddly ends a bit dry.

Draft at the OF. Orange-brown color, nice thick off-white head. Medium-bodied, smooth middle-toned malt nuances. Light peppery finish that lingers a bit. Relatively low CO2, might just be an older keg though. Easy drinking, a touch dry. Not as much hop character as advertised, a tad too mild for me. More of a pepper-lager than a pepper-APA.

Brown. Grain with wild grass in the aroma. Flavor has green plans, wild grass, and dry malt. Lightly hopped. Earthy.

Bottle thanks to bu11zeye. Pours with a huge, fluffy tan head over a hazed amber brown body. Aroma is odd. I get a ton of stuff that reminds me of fusel alcohol, but isn’t. There are also berry notes, light tartness, toffee and a touch of something earthy. Taste is alcohol, belgian yeast, flabby malts, phenolic earthy, wheat, and beets. Flavor feels a bit flat. Lively bubbles and a dry mouthfeel. I must also say that I really dislike beets.

Draft at old fashioned. Big coffee aroma. Big coffee taste. Medium bodied coffee assault. Smooth and easy drinking though, not overly sweet and sticky. Filtered amber-brown color. Expresso aftertaste. Well done, very unique.

Bottled. A deep red beer with a huge tan head. The aroma is sweet with strong notes of caramel as well as medium notes of malt, alcohol and fruit. The flavor is sweet again with strong notes of caramel and medium notes of malt and alcohol. The finish is a bit cloying. Thanks Papsoe for sharing.

12 oz bottle purchased at Zipps in Minneapolis, Minnesota by my Dad. Pour is hazy cloudy orange amber with some fine particulates and active carbonation. A lasting two inch head forms pretty lacing as it falls. Very pretty in the glass. Aroma of toasty caramel malt, floral hops and the pepper spice. All play together nicely. Taste is initially citrus floral hops, pretty dirty bitter, behind that is the toasted malt and the ending is the spice black pepper. The taste transition really unusually, very unique. Its as if the black pepper is lying in wait to dry up and spice up the finish. Palate is medium, decent carbonation level. As mentioned, the finish is dry and peppery. As it warms, the finish gets quite vegetal, green pepper. Points for uniqueness on this one.

Sample at JaBier’s refrigerator reduction tasting on 08/15/09. This brew is a clear orange-amber color with a thin off-white head that diminishes steadily. Patchy lacing on the glass. Coffee and floral hops in the nose. Medium body with flavors of roasted coffee, hops and caramel malt. The finish is smooth and well-rounded between moderately bitter coffee and sweet malt. Pretty good overall.

Bottle. Dark gold body with a white head, mostly diminishing. Aroma is dominated by spice and hops — clove, orange, coriander, flowers. Hints of caramel, banana, vanilla and honey. The flavor is moderately sweet and lightly to moderately bitter. It finishes lightly sweet and lightly to moderately bitter. The combination of hops and spice have a bit of a nail polish remover taste, but it’s not off-putting. Medium body with a crisp texture and fizzy carbonation. Interesting and more complex than expected — a Leffe with more spice and lots more hops.
