Tap at BGB, shared with Gurthnar. Hazy yellow-golden body, white head. Citric, creamy aroma, NZ herbal notes, clean, perfumey, quite nice. Creamy, smooth taste, oddly caramelly for a moment, resinous, bit citric, lightly floral, ending herbal, not too bitter, fresh and smooth, nice!

500ml can. Quasi black colour with average, frothy, osteoporosing, minimally lacing, dark beige to tan head. Smoky and slightly nutty, dark malty aroma, notes of smoked wood, some dark chocolate, hints of wood ashes, an earthy touch of bark, whiffs of liquorice. Taste is smoky, minimally nutty, dark malty, slightly caramel malty and mildly bitter herbal hoppy, hints of dark chocolate, smoked wood, a touch of wood ashes, liquorice; lingering malty finish with slightly fading smokiness and increase of caramel sweetness.
Oily-watery texture, smooth and minimally greasy, simultaneously minimally dry palate, medium, prickly carbonation.
Heavy smokiness considering a relatively light 14° BLG body, slightly imbalanced therefore, reconciliatory caramel sweetness in the finish, intense and fairly complex overall - initially a bit demanding, even for a Rauchbier lover; late bloomer in a way.

500ml can. Slightly milky, yellow-ish, golden colour with average, frothy to creamy, slowly osteoporosing, moderately lacing, snow white head. Coffee aroma, slightly disguised grassy hoppy and spicy, pale malty background, hints of mocha and instant coffee. Taste is slightly bitter roasty and slightly bitter hoppy, pale malty background, notes of coffee, instant coffee, some mocha, some grassy hop, a weak, citrusy fruity hoppy touch of orange.
Watery texture, smooth and dry palate, medium to fine, dense, foamy, mildly prickly carbonation.
Okay-ish coffee flavours, relatively disguised IPA character, passably harmonious overall - insofar OK
