Tap @ Boston/NY 2009. Clear orange color, short head. Grassy hop, caramel malt, corn. Is this a double IPA? Way too weak for that.

Location: Since this is now Ruckus Hoptimus Prime, and no longer Legacy, I figured I'd do some updating of this rating with a 22 oz bottle from Buy Rite, 2/8/12

Aroma: The nose is fairly citrusy, with some pine hops and caramel malts present as well
Appearance: It pours a slightly hazy golden-orange color with a small white head and spotty lace
Flavor: The taste is what you would expect from the nose, sweet citrus and caramel, and bitter hops
Palate: This one has a nice drinkability, with a medium (plus) body, and an average-to-soft carbonation
Overall Impression: I enjoyed this one. It is a nice Double IPA, with a good flavor and a nice balance between the fairly big citrusy sweetness and the big hop bitterness. Those flavors are both fairly pronounced and enjoyable to drink in this beer. I think my score may actually go up a touch here, maybe the beer was a little fresher? I don't know, but I think I enjoyed it even a touch more. (3.9: 8/3/8/4/16)

Location: 22 oz bottle from Norm's, 8/31/09

Aroma: Pine, spice (pepper), bit of grapefruit, caramel, orange
Appearance: Hazy orange color, thin white head, a bit of lace (borderline 3/4)
Flavor: Hops upfront, as the hops burn away a backing of malt, and some peppery spice take over for the hop bitterness, balanced IIPA
Palate: I got no alcohol burn at all here, dryish, interesting mouthfeel, medium body
Overall Impression: Aroma is a bit lacking in power compared to most DIPAs, but the flavor is pretty enjoyable. Has a nice mouthfeel that I'm quite able to do justice in description, but enjoyable none-the-less. This is certainly not a good beer, but it isn't reaching the upper echelons of my Imperial IPA list. (3.7: 7/3/8/4/15)

A tall, creamy off-white head sits above the clear, medium gold body. Fresh citrus hop aroma. Bitter, but only slightly so as the malt base is right there too. Not overly complex or awe inspiring as IIPAs go, but soilid with no flaws.

Pours pale yellow into a shaker. Head quickly recedes to nothing. Caramel malt and hop aromas. Thin with biscuit, bread and cracker. Slight sweet hop finish.

Orangey-amber colour with a fairly thick head. Orangey-woody hop aroma with some biscuity malt in the background. Rounded bitterness is woody and dry, with a splash of tropical fruit brightness. This is tempered by mellow, biscuity malts. The finish is dry, appetizing, with a hint of sweetness demanding more. Nicely balanced example.

A dark amber ale with a thick light moka head. A earthy hoppy imperial IPA, with good caramel malt, muskey and pleasant. In mouth, a decent hoppy ale with grapefruit, but overall, a bit simple and thin, veering on astringent. Shared with Probstk, April 2 2009.

12oz bottle. Premium baby! Hyper-filtered pale yellow straw color. A little soapy head. The aroma is sweet, a mix of sugar and malt. The mouthfeel is pretty macro, with some bitter crispness and a sweet finish. Mellow and drinkable enough, somewhat fresher and doughier than a Yuengling, it’s assumed rival. Not bad yeast characteristics, but just has an adjuctly cheapness to it. After a few, I can see how one would get pleasantly used to it.

Bomber from Wine Specialist. Dark orange copper color with a huge off-white head. Strong aromas of mildly roasted malt and floral/citrus. Medium plus body with roasty malt backing. This must be fresh. Lush hop. Floral with a touch of citrus. Lots of hop. Finishes floral, malty, but nearly dry. Bitter curls around the edges of the tongue, but softly. Just excellent. Can’t even sense the alcohol. Erased by hop burn!

Bottle from Immy, Thanks! Pours a clear copper with a nice sized fluffy beige head. Aroma is sweet and citrus filled. Nice hop bitterness, lots of grapefruit and florals in the flavor. Just a little malty presence. Nice.

On Tap at the Belgian Café, Philadelphia18-11-08. Pours light golden with a slim white head. Crisp, clean, oily hops that are quite full on start things off. There is a grassy and honeyness to this beer which deliver the bitterness on a little blanket of sweetness, though the bitterness does eventually win out and wins on points. The tongue and roof of the mouth are left a with a furry bitter coating. A6 A4 F7 P4 OV14 3.5
